How 5.5 Gilded Mounts Vendors can save the Mog Station

    Items:
“Resplendent Vessel of Ronka” selling for 25 million gil (gold version of “Great Vessel of Ronka” mount)
“Gilded Mikoshi” selling for 50 million gil (gold version of “Mikoshi” mount)

    Benefit:

A way for players to spend large amounts of gil reducing inflation in the game's economy and take the gil out of circulation.

    Drawback:
Prizes that will only appeal to a small percentage of the population due to items being a recolor of something they already own.

    Solution/Suggestion:
In my opinion the addition of the new gold colored mounts is a great first step into the issue of inflation in the game's economy. However, I feel that a recolor of mounts players already own for absurd amounts of gil will not convince enough players to buy them and will do little to take gil out of circulation.

I suggest, a way to peak player interest by adding something they will be more likely to spend large amounts of gil for. In my opinion I believe adding items that are currently only available from the Mog Station to also be available from Luxury Traders for gil. Despite the controversial topic of buying things from the Mog Station with real money, I believe having options is a good alternative. If a player has the option to spend real money on an item or spend time earning money in game for the same item, they are at the very least given multiple options to gain something they want.

As for the implication of this idea on Square Enix's part, I feel it much easier to add items they have already created models for and animations for instead of trying to create brand new items. Although, I am not against the adding of new items, these are always welcome. I am just trying to suggest the easiest alternative to achieve all the desired outcomes.

Seems like an excellent way to foster RMT if you ask me. I'm sure the Gil Sellers are pretty happy with this new need for gil. Relative to Mog Station items SE makes real money from sales there I doubt seriously they'll give people a way to buy those in game.

I don't see a need for any gil sinks when they've totally & completely destroyed the economy.
Everything seems to be selling for 5k gil or less now.

It's still possible to make a lot of gil, though.

Personally I don't have any interest in the mounts in question. I would, however, buy some opulent and fancy furniture for my house that costs a lot of money. Provided it genuinely looked nice, of course.

Yeah. Granted it is still the first week of the patch, but I've spent around 6-7 mil and made half of that back in the same amount of time. I can usually average a couple hundred thousand per day at least if things are selling steadily. Usually more if my retainers are generous. Sure, I'm never rich, but I always get what I want. Considering I've got all the glamours I want currently, a fully furnished house and reasonably geared alt jobs I think I'm doing just fine.

While I cannot give a specific date on when personal housing will be implemented, I can say that prices will be completely separate from free company housing, and, naturally, far more affordable.

Kinda silly perspective tbh. If adding mogstation mounts in for gil is going to foster RMT, then why are these RMTers not simply spending their money on the mount directly? You're not gonna find 50 million gil from any RMT source for 30 bucks or less.

    This is a terrible idea.

Having an item be simultaneously available at the store and via in-game could incentivize the company to mess with the game method in order to sell the store version while at the same time people can excuse the store prices because it's available in game if you don't want to pay.

So far, every time someone complains about a new store item, I can always say to let the market decide. This idea would mess with that.

I mean, a better gil sink would just be for the players who feel they have too much gil to just throw the gil away. Find the NPC vendor with the most expensive stuff you can buy for gil, spend all of your "too much gil" there and then vendor the bought items back for vendor price. Boom. Gil gone in a way that doesn't impact the economy. As a bonus, the devs don't need to spend any extra time and resources creating stuff or new systems to stroke anyone's large.. wallet.

You know if they added exclusive dyes that can't be sold on MB that costs like 1 mil each I'm sure that would work out to be a better gil sink than a mount recolor. The dyes can even be patterns like Camo-Red, or monotone stripes or even add a glow to your body piece similar to some of the lvl 50 augmented crafted gear. The problem with mount recolors is that you can't show it off in limsa where you can afk and enjoy the game.

I don't think RMT is an issue here. If you are the type of person to go against the rules and buy gil from RMT with real money to get the item. Why would you bother with the middle man plus the risk to your account if you could buy it with real money from the Mog Station.

As for Square Enix making money off the sales of the Mog Station items, they will still be making money off of the subscription time it would take people to earn that gil in game. Assuming these are the only two factors we are judging against each other.
