Black Mage Shadowed face glowing eyes??

Hey folks, I noticed a Lalafell that had the most peculiar exact black shadow face and glowing yellow eyes from the original Final Fantasy game.


I took a screenshot because I thought it was cool but now I realize I can't find any information anywhere about what the look is or where it came from, am I looking at a mod?

Screenshots don't work that way. You need to try using another format. Won't be able to just link them from your Onedrive.

Edit: That is the lvl 78 crafted/quest reward set. It's dwarf themed. You can purchase them from the MB or from a vendor I believe. If you want them just for glamour, the vendor version (NQ) is probably the way to go.

Your screenshot isn't working, bit I think I can answer you question. The classic Black Mage look of an obscure face and glowing eyes was more of a stylistic choice in the original Final Fantasy; because of the hats they wore. In the original when the job was upgraded to Black Wizard, the hat was removed and it showed a normal face. Over time though the look became iconic for an obscured face and even created the memorable character of Vivi.

Now as for what you saw. In the Shadowbringers expansion, a new beast tribe was introduced, the Dwarves, that are based on the Dwarves from Final Fantasy IV, who had obscured faces like a Black Mage. Dwarved gear is obtainable/craftable around level 78-79. The head pieces are designed to mimic the obscured face combo that the Dwarves of FFIV had.

Not sure how far you are in the overall story, but if you are curious about the Dwarves at all here is the answer.

Also to specify something about the end of your post: Mods are only client side. So if you yourself aren't using any mods, if you ever see something in game, it exists in game.

Only the people using the mods will be able to see the effects of the mod. To everyone else it just looks normal (unless you happen to have the same mod installed.)
