was trying to look up this very thing and ended up here. I want gandalf-like beard on my character, or at least something reasonably close to that. Plying female toon until then, while upskirting it every chance I get xD Which might be forever, seeing how things are going..

Character creator in FFXIV is seriously outdated. I want to see more customization options going forward. Especially concering body sliders, etc. (if possible).

Same with hairstyles. As a male I like to have shorter hair, when I play female I like having medium to longer hair. Looks absolutely matter.

it's probably an engine issue with the game, I mean the game is 10 years old...I highly doubt they can add anything to beards, only hairstyles.

Considering that ff14 now is the most profitable game in the series, i don‘t think a new mmo is on the horizon.
I‘d love to see upgrades to the engine. There were tidbits of info in some interviews pointing at that direction. Seems like the devs are at least considering it or working on it in their spare time.

I highly doubt it, i think for new engine they would have to redo the game which is very costly.

And i think your forgetting those Final Fantasy mobile titles, they make a good chunk of money too. Only reason why xiv is most profitable is because its tied to a monthly subscription, mog station and expansions

I wasn’t talking about a whole new engine either, just tweaking the one it already uses.
The main reason ff14 is so profitable is because even with it‘s flaws it‘s a really good game with devs that genuinely care about its player base.
Ff14 1.0 was also subscription based, did it fare well? It was a disaster from a financial standpoint, which resulted in reworking the actual game, rather than move on to another ff title.
I just don‘t see them creating a whole new mmo, when they just could tweak the current engine we have now.

Just a tidbit of an interview:

Yoshida explained that the (engine)update isn’t happening right now either because he wanted to focus more on the actual gameplay and story with Endwalker, which is supposed to be the conclusion to the game’s ongoing narrative arc, and the setup for a new one for its future. That said, Yoshida also says work on the graphics engine update will begin eventually.

If the new mmo would cover a different genre, than maybe a future mmo could be in the pipeline. As long as it would compete with 14 i dont really see it happening.

Compete? They would both be from SE so there really wouldn't be any competition.

I understand that the developers.love the game, that's good. Doesn't mean that the game doesn't have it flaws and the battle system really needs an upgrade..

I doubt males would have full beards, i dont think the old engine can handle it like the awful cloth physics this game has lol
