Does PS5 Beta client required me to have valid PS5 license code?

Hello,

I am an old player since the very first beta came out on PC, so to sum up my issue is that I have FFXIV and all the expansion on my own PC - USA region.

A few weeks ago, I bought PS5 so I created PlayStation account under Middle East region which I am sure Squire Enix include that region as EU.

My concern is that I downloaded the FFXIV for PS5, but whenever I attempt to log using my PC FFXIV information I get errors saying that I have to change the application to be similar to the region. I am not sure what exactly does that mean.

Did this error show up because I did not buy FFXIV license on PS4? if that is the issue then how can I download FFXIV on my PS5 for USA region?

I dont know I am really confused, somewhere online says PlayStation 5 games should be region free so... what to do now, would be okay to buy FFXIV license for PS4 but what if my PS5 only download the European application of FFXIV.

You have to purchase the licenses for the Playstation 4 version which will then let you enter the PS5 Open Beta.

Daemon is right, your issue is that you don't have XIV for PS4.

In re: region, it's your Square Enix account that will determine which region you need to buy FFXIV PS4 version for. If it's a EU Square Enix account, then you can only use EU FFXIV registration codes. NA Square Enix Account would require NA FFXIV registration codes.

Many thanks for replaying so my account is USA for PC so then I just need to buy PS4 same region as my account then my PS5 will log in with no problems right... it wont make sense to buy EU pass when my account is USA, i mean it wont work

Last question, do you guys think FFXIV will get full game release for PS5, should I wait to buy that copy or it doesnt matter the upgrade is always free?

I dont really want to buy the game at full price, I need to wait for promotions with great discount

If you have the PS4 version of the client then the upgrade to the PS5 version should be free, although there will probably be a time limit for how long you will be eligible to do so. At least that was how it worked for PS3 ->PS4 upgrade. When Endwalker comes out you will need to purchase that expansion for the PS5 as well.

In Mog Station, both PS4 and PS5 licenses are in same column.
When I bought Shb exp last month it said I registered for both PS4 and PS5.

So my guess is no need to buy new one.
But for sure, I think better contact SE about it.
