I think they said the cities will be remade as well.
Hopefully we will get an actually AH instead on an empty wall of air to trade with.
Hopefully we will get an actual building for the grand companies.
Hopefully the Airship docks in Ul'dah and Limsa will be part of the same zone as the city and not require loading.
According to 2.0 PDF's:
"Campaign of battles against the dragon horde in the defense of Ishgard, with participation possible as any of the four Disciplines."
So I hope that means we can enter Ishgard by then! Unless they just let you do everything outside Ishgard like dragoon quests <_<

They don't need much at all, in my opinion. Gridania could use some work though. But Uldah and Limsa are pretty amazing. Oh, and obviously less emphasis on the market-ward entrance wouldn't be remiss.Looking at the 2.0 documents, the redesigned maps look great. Well at least the artwork does, we will see once E3 comes i guess.
What about the Cities tho'? Will they redesign them too? I can't seem to find anything mentioning the cities, cuz they do need a lift up too!
I think the cities are fine the way they are. They just need to add locations for the market ward, GC headquarters, etc, instead of instantly teleporting there. They can also get rid of those long walks leading into each city...which I'm guessing is there to mask loading times, which will probably be much better anyway with the new client.
Gridania just needs to be chopped down or segmented into zones, which is what I recall would happen to the cities in terms of redesign. Gridania in particular is more 'filler' than the other 2 cities, while it fits with the forest theme, it's inconvenient for conjurers mainly because their guild is the only one way out of the way from everything.
I cannot follow your reasoning regarding these cities needing to be segmented into zones. A loading screen would just make navigation slower. lol.Gridania just needs to be chopped down or segmented into zones, which is what I recall would happen to the cities in terms of redesign. Not really, since loading is only slow to some people now because their PCs can't fully handle this game, I noticed what takes me up to 5 seconds to 'zone' from teleport, takes some people a good 2 minutes. (I actually timed it.)
Yes but why would a city be zoned? This game can already handle a city + enormous map without any zone lines. So I don't follow your reasoning, unless it's to intentionally slow people down with unnecessary loading times.
Do you really have a problem with copy/paste going on in cities?
Isn't that what people do?
I thought the main problem was believing that natural terrain would be copied exactly every few feet....
But a city... a man made city is going to be copy pasted... thats actually one of the key elements of a city...
