Artifact armor nonexistent in my game, all expansions

I am unable to obtain the artifact armor for ANY job, any character, and any level because there is absolutely zero places to get them. I only got the 50 gear, but 60, 70, 80 is nonexistent in my game and I KNOW that it exists as my brother-in-law has them all for all levels and jobs. However, I cannot get any of them.


Google does not help, the only results about artifact armor are really outdated results and spammy/dodgy results. Nothing telling me why I cannot get them. Nothing specifying any NPC to get them, nothing

Calamity salvager lets you get the undyeable Stormblood AF gear, for free IIRC, if not for free then for a few thousand gil per piece. You have to do eureka anemos to get a dyeable version though, and it's a pretty hefty grind for a full set.

Heavensward Artefact gear is tricker to get, it costs centurio seals instead and is bought from the centurio vendors, requiring hundreds of seals per set, plus 150 or 300 seals per augment item if you want to dye it.

Shadowbringers undyeable Artefact gear is gotten from an NPC in the final zone, in a little crystarium-designed house south of the not-sahagin settlement. You have to complete each respective class category quest to unlock those classes armor though. The dyeable gear is gotten through the EX trial "Memoria Misera EX" and gives 2 tokens per clear. A full set costs 19 tokens but three coffers drop per run (and everybody rolls on these), which can be opened for a respective gear piece of the class you have active when the coffer is opened.

If you threw away gear coffers w/o opening them, that might be the cause for that.

...what are you talking about, you finish role quests, you can get job specific gear on every job of the same role if your level is sufficient. You need to be the job you want gear for while "purchasing" it tho.

Please stop lying to me and making invalid assumptions. It is stressing me out. Why can't people on the internet ever give a valid answer any time I have a problem with anything? Why do people always have to troll every time something is not working with something?

Okay, I know you are upset, but we are trying to help you with the best of our limited knowledge, as we only have what you tell us to go on. The information we are giving you is actually the right information, so there must be something else that you are not telling us, something that you missed without realizing which is why it's not working for you. AF sets are gained in different ways depending on which level it is for and apart from the very first set ('AF1'), the rest is all available through npc vendors with specific currency (some require certain quests to be completed first before they become available however).

You say you do have the original AF1 set which is fine (as that is gained by completing the revelant level 45-50 Job quests), but the rest have specific requirements to gain (it also should be noted that new Jobs added do not have AF for levels lower than the level of the expansion they were introduced with):

AF1.5 sets (level 50) (for 1.0/ARR Jobs only)

Run post ARR level 50 dungeons like Snowcloak for 'antique' items, and then trade the revelant antique piece with Kakalan in Rowena's House of Splendors at Revenant's Toll in Mor Dhona for a certain piece of AF1.5 gear (note Kakalan also has 'dyeable' AF1 gear but that requires 'augmentation' which is not revelant here).

AF2 sets (level 60) (for 1.0/ARR and HW Jobs only)

Undertake the Hunt for HW areas for Centurio Seals, and then purchase from Yolaine (the old woman behind the counter) at the Forgotten Knight tavern in Ishgard's Foundation.

AF3 sets (level 70) (for 1.0/ARR, HW and SB Jobs only)

Complete the level 70 Job quest for each Job - the AF coffer is rewarded upon completion.

AF4 sets (level 80) (for all Jobs except BLU - see below)

Complete the Role quests for each Job's relevant role, and reach level 80 in the required Job, then speak with Grenoldt in the Tempest and select the required pieces.

BLU AF is gained in a different way - by undertaking the BLU Job quests and completing the challenges in The Masked Carnivale.

If you have not satisfied any of these requirements, then the ability to gain these AF sets will not be possible.

At the Tempest the NPC sells Job related gear. There's not generic equipment?

He sells Weathered items, specific for every Job - and in your case, the Summoner Gear: you have your SMN at 80 and the achievement "Through the Gate VIII" right?
That is the only requirement.

By the way, what ilvl are the Gear you are seeing on Grenoldt?

In The Tempest, inside The Workbench.


Grenoldt will, after you get to 80 AND finish the appropriate Tank, Physical DPS, Magical DPS, or Healer role quests, you have this selection.


Inside each selection, is Job specific gear, that you can select, even when not on the correct Job, as long as you have it unlocked. Here my level 76 MNK is trying to grab the PLD weapon. You get a pop-up! Go ahead and grab it.


You are able to see what gear you currently have on you (Owned) or not (Available). And here is the SMN specific chest piece.

You can't miss the coffers if you do job quests. If you didn't finish job story quests for levels 50/60/70, you won't get them. Not sure about finishing it by buying a level skip.
Also, I was wrong about "need to be the job you're getting gear for" stuff, as Mykll kindly provided evidence to the contrary.

If you are not in fact trolling, which at this point is hard to believe from the volume of posts you make regarding issues with simple solutions, the majority of your gameplay issues could be solved by reading what is in front of you and actually checking menus instead of assuming.
