New player: how to get gil?

    Hi all.

So i have only been doing my archer/bard quests from lvl 1 and dinged lvl 80 and finished close to everything in Shadowbringers.

Usually every 10 levels or so ive been using the small amount of currency and gil i've had to upgrade my gear a little bit, to make the progress smoother.

Im just playing MMOs for the storylines.

I misclicked and bought items, so im basically "almost at zero" gil. I had around 500.000.

I cba to do any "auctioneering" and i havent enabled "retainer" yet.

    Some questions...

    1.
Would it be possible for me, if need be, to create a single alt and buy "multiples" of this item: https://store.finalfantasyxiv.com/ff...gb/product/574 and transfere 300.000 gil to my main character?

(do i reallllly have to level this one to lvl 17, enable retainer to get markedboard access for it and post a item on my main character, so that the alt character can buy it (and transfere gil that way?.... edit... dang... ..seems you can only do this once per character...)

    2.
Are there any other fast and legit ways to get gil?
(not playing the game/farming, but stuff i can buy with irl money and convert it into gil ingame somehow).

    Cheers !

    - Greed equipment in raid&dungeon to give them to your Grand Company for seal, then exchange these seals for material to sell them with your retainer
    - Greed equipment in raid&dungeon to desynthetis them. You need a lvl30 crafter and complete a quest in Uldah first to be able to do so. It'll give you material you can sell to your retainer.
    - Send your retainer in venture to gain material and then sell them or to gain allagan pieces you can directly sell to any vendors to get the gils.
    - Do treasure maps. Often, you'll get sent in an area where you can both gain materials you can sell and gils.
    - Level your crafter and gatherer. See what are the prices in the marketboard and sell materials and stuff that sell well at good price.
    - Adventurer in need bonus in roulettes : it gives you cluster you can exchange for materia you can then sell
    - Spend your tomestone : poetics and stuff in materials you can sell or gear so you can then exchange them to your GC ou recycle
    - Do your beast tribes quest : get their local money then exchange it for materials, materia you can then sell.
    - Ishgard, firmament, diadem. Gather, get point, exchange your points for materials, dyes, materia... play the mini-game where you get stamps
    - Challenge log. Just complete some and gain the gils
    - Doma donation. Throw away what you don't need and gain gils (capped 40,000 per weak)
    - Do PVE content, dungeon, you'll get gill.
    - Kill mobs, loot their item, if it sell well in the marketboard.
    - Gardening, if you have a house. Crossbread seed and stuff

I might forget some honestly but you can already do a lot of things daily.
Always keep in mind to spend your ressources and watch your retainers sales.

Unlock the Hunt and do the daily and weekly Hunts on the Hunt Board for special hunt currency (Allied Seals for GC Hunts, Centurio Seals for HW and SB Hunts, Bags of Nuts for SHB Hunts), and then trade them in with the Hunt vendor found near the Hunt Board and buy Aetheryte Tickets - these allow you to teleport for free, and given the tickets cost very little in Hunt currency, you can fairly quickly amass a huge stack of them, meaning you will never have to pay gil to teleport anywhere ever again! (You wouldn't think so but teleportation charges do start to drain your gilpouch).

KDSilver already mentioned it but I'll add something further: retainer ventures - if you send your retainers out on 'Quick Adventures', sell everything which is sellable they bring back, no matter how apparently insignificant it can be, as it all adds up. Any 'green' or 'blue' gear they bring back trade in for Company Seals at your GC instead.

Thanks a lot for the tips.

Just wish the game devs could atleast have one option to buy a set amount of gil per account. *maybe limit it to max x 3 times per month

I would be willing to pay f.ex 15 usd for 300.000. Those gil would last me quite some time.

You can get Gil from quests.

You can also get Gil from doing the daily roulettes, and squeeze out more by signing up as the job that is required at time you queue.

Otherwise, your retainer is the interface to sell on the market board. You don't need to guess what something is valued at. There is a button to click which shows you what the item you want to sell is currently going for.

Even if you bought jet black dyes from mog station (and I don't even know if resell is prohibited), you can't flip that to Gil without a retainer.

No NPC character is going to items of any significant value from anything looted in your inventory.

Actually, there is another way. But you need a Culinarian that's up there. Either buy, or craft Coffee Biscuits and hand in Leve quests.

Beyond that though, I'm afraid to say you're going to have to change your way of thinking and approach to this game for ways to make money. Or be content with your decision to remain poor.

Do roulettes daily, gathering jobs and sell items on marketboard. Gils are easier to come by as you move into higher level.

Buying gil with real money, will get you banned and why really?

It’s not possible to transfer stuff/gil directly between characters on the same account. I’m not sure if you can buy stuff listed by characters from the same account though.

If you absolutely don’t want to do any hunts/leve/crafting/gathering, you could buy One Hero’s Journey (https://store.finalfantasyxiv.com/ff...s/category/7/2 ) for a different DoW/DoM job (that you don’t current have at/above lv 70) to use on your current character. It’s more expensive at $25, but it gives you 50 allagan platinum pieces. There’s no need to create an alt.

It depends how you define fast and your server economy, but some low level mats/crafted gear sell for nice profit on marketboard. You can level a crafter to lv15 relatively fast using just vendor materials.

You can transfer gil from one character to another on the same account through a trusted third party. I acted as such a trusted third party recently.

Have yet to attempt to gather or craft for gil. Only 8 days played time, 59 and have just entered the HW areas. Teleport everywhere, so in that time I have "made" well over 800k gil. MSQ, class & job quests, beasttribe dailies.
