Is your HDR setting set to "On When Supported?" If not, try changing it to that.I just wanted to add my name to the list. I'm having the exact same performance issues as everyone else, with the added bonus of my PS5 losing connection to my TV every time I start the game, login, logout and close the game. FFXIV is the only game that does this and it only started happening after the most recent patch.
The performance issues are really strange as the PS5 should be more than capable of maintaining at least 1440p at 60+fps. When the PS5 is in BC mode it doesn't even use all of it's CPU cores so as to imitate a PS4/PS4 Pro, yet the PS4 version is far superior despite the PS5 version having the full capability of the machine at its disposal. It's baffling.

I was disheartened to see that my HDR settings were already set to 'On when supported', so I changed it to 'Always on' and it fixed it! Thanks very much for the assist, I never even thought to look in there. Cheers!![]()
I had an issue with this as well, but I remember now that it was fixed for me by a TV firmware update and not a PS/game update. I originally suggested setting it to "Always On," but edited it because I thought that's when I was having problems and the forced "HDR" for FFXIV is not so great. I believe the issue stems from when the content is changing back and forth from HDR to SDR and it ends up doing something to the handshake between the console and TV. I have an LG CX for reference. Hopefully it's something that can get hammered out eventually. Glad something was able to alleviate the issue for you in the meantime.
Was about to make a post of my own on this but lucky me, someone else already brought it up.
Anyway yeah, the PS5 version of the game has some REAL big FPS issues, even though I'm using the "Performance" mode for my 1080p TV. Most obvious place it'll happen for me is either around the Limsa Aetheryte or (as of the date I post this) in Gangos. I actually re-installed the PS4 version again to confirm if the FPS difference was that big and, yeah, it's a REAL big difference.
PS4 version I'm consistently getting 60FPS even in the most effect and player heavy Bozja CEs, PS5 seems to be struggling but the stuttering seems less like a CPU or GPU bottle neck with performance and more when it's loading in and out characters? Because once everything is loaded in it seems fine, but whenever players load out or in, that's when it gets really stuttery. Glad the PS4 version still runs like a champ, but bummer that version didn't get the higher resolution UI change cause even on my TV those looked so much nicer and cleaner
I bounce back and forth, but I've begun forcing myself to deal with the FPS drops because the UI looks so much nicer on my TV, and the controller/sound features are nice. The game visuals between PS4 Pro and PS5 1440p modes aren't much different, but the UI is so much sharper on PS5. Not to mention that sound quality with my Pulse headset is much worse on the PS4 version unless I go into the system and turn off 3d audio.
It sucks that we have to decide between obviously improved features and a stable framerate, when the system is clearly capable of doing both. I'm hoping this gets resolved by the time Endwalker comes out.
I'm curious about the TVs of those who are seeing this issue like I am. I have other friends who play the game on the PS5 version and none of them have this issue. The only different I can think of between them and I is that their TVs are newer(so they support newer features like HDR, 4k, 120Hz) Mine is an older Samsung, as I stated in the OP, only supports up to 1080p, no HDR, no HDMI 2.1, 60 Hz refresh rate, etc.. I'm planning on a buying a new TV soon, but I feel like this shouldn't be the case to at least be able to run the game without frames dropping constantly on the PS5.

i play on a Samsung Series 8 4K HDR TV. it’s a TV from 2017. This issue is definitely not linked to any specific TV. at most what you would get with an older TV is screen tearing due to a lower refresh rate. What’s happening with the PS5 version of FFXIV is straight up a performance issue.
I think they were trying to make a claim for newer TV's having VRR (Variable Refresh Rate), which does work to make FPS drops less noticeable. Problem is, PS5 doesn't yet support VRR, so it's not a factor here.i play on a Samsung Series 8 4K HDR TV. it’s a TV from 2017. LG CX. You're friends are probably those people that can't tell the difference between 30 and 60 FPS. But yeah, it's 100% an optimization/performance issue.I'm curious about the TVs of those who are seeing this issue like I am. So I'm guessing this technical support forums is not monitored too much by anyone from SE or something? None of these threads except 1 has any feedback from the dev community. Hopefully they at least are aware.
