Can confirm i’ve been having the same issues with the PS5 beta client here. The PS4 client on PS5 runs a million times smoother than the current PS5 beta client does.

I want to add to this. The backwards compatible PS4 version runs much better than the native PS5 version. The official release is a week away and we've heard nothing about an accompanying patch or update to address any of these issues. Seems like this so-called beta was the full release all along.
Official launch has occurred. There are no (noticeable) changes or improvements to performance.
Yep, I do believe they have someone working on it.. 4K drawing quality does look good, too bad I don't feel like playing on that Frame Rate
This isn’t just an issue with the 4K mode. it’s an issue across all three graphic modes on the PS5 version. The frame rate drops on all three graphic modes while it doesn’t on the PS4 version on PS5. The only thing the PS5 version has over the PS4 version is the load times right now.
We need confirmation from the development team that this is being looked into please. There’s clearly optimization issues. i know it’s a horrible time to be asking for anything more to be worked on but if this version wasn’t ready then i would have preferred to have waited until later for it to be released.
I can confirm that this also applies to me. Major slowdown on certain areas and instances. This applies to all graphic modes. For such a game with precise timing mechanics this is a great detriment.

I've been noticing these issues as well. Using the 1440p mode on PS5, there are noticeable slowdowns in areas with many other players, and even in some instances such as the outside areas of Rabanstre. Any time I look in the direction of the buildings in the distance the FPS drops.
The PS4 Pro settings in backward compatibility mode perform much better overall, without any noticeable change in visuals. The loading times are lower, and we lose the controller features, which is unfortunate.

It happens on the 1080P setting as well, in the same areas/spots. It happens even when nothing is there. There are plenty of spots where your vision can be totally obstructed by a mountain/rock, wall etc. and you'll still experience the framerate drops. I believe part of the issue is occlusion culling, but it happens in areas where there really isn't anything around either, so that can't the only issue. I'm starting to wonder if lighting and/or weather is part of the issue, too. I remember an issue I had long ago on PC where looking at a specific lamp (when lit) would cause this exact same FPS/stutter issue. It didn't not matter where it was or what was going on. If that particular lamp model was there, if it was lit or even the moment it produce light, it would cause the issue. Also, this issue occurs inside of my FC house the moment you enter. There's a ton of stuff inside, but I still don't feel like it's something the PS5 couldn't handle. Kinda leads towards occlusion culling again, but I'm not sure if it's unable to render all the object inside (which seems impossible for the hardware given its specs), or if it's rendering objects outside of the house. As far as I know, housing interiors are instanced so that wouldn't make much since, but I don't know exactly how FFXIV does stuff, so I'm not entirely sure. Again though, the issue persists even when switching to 1080P.I've been noticing these issues as well. Maybe I need to make a video of all the areas this occurs since the internet seems to be pretty devoid of people talking about or demonstrating the issues.

Even when going in the FC house I experience framerate drops - or spinning my camera in certain directions in area maps.
I really hope the client gets more optimized, was hoping to switch to the PS5 from my PC.
I just wanted to add my name to the list. I'm having the exact same performance issues as everyone else, with the added bonus of my PS5 losing connection to my TV every time I start the game, login, logout and close the game. FFXIV is the only game that does this and it only started happening after the most recent patch.
The performance issues are really strange as the PS5 should be more than capable of maintaining at least 1440p at 60+fps. When the PS5 is in BC mode it doesn't even use all of it's CPU cores so as to imitate a PS4/PS4 Pro, yet the PS4 version is far superior despite the PS5 version having the full capability of the machine at its disposal. It's baffling.
