    Legacy Character Missing?

Hi, I just found out that Legacy Characters have a tattoo and mine does not appear to have one. I started playing FF14 the day it came out in 2010 and took a break for a few years till ARR came out. I don't remember deleting any characters but It doesn't seem my new character has the Legacy status. I've tried making a support ticket but they just email me saying that I should contact the "Support Center Team" and just send me a link right back to where I created my first ticket.

    Any advice?

I'm not Square-Enix support, obviously, but I think in order to have the legacy perks you needed to be past a certain point in the 1.0 story and to have been actively playing (or at least, subscribed) in a certain window prior to the shutdown; if you took a break for "a few years" prior to A Realm Reborn, you may not have qualified.

(I'm not 100% certain on this, though; my own 1.0 character is on a defunct account tied to an email address I no longer have, so I made a new account when ARR launched.)

I aim to make my posts engaging and entertaining, even when you might not agree with me. And failing that, I'll just be very, VERY wordy.

You say new character... as in you created another?

Only characters that existed up until the end of 1.0 have the tattoo. Any character created from 2.0 onwards (even if it's on an old account) don't have the tattoo.

So basically if you log in as the same character you used in 1.0 that'll have the tattoo. You can check on the Mogstation to see if that character still exists/what world it's on as you may need to use the datacentre option to switch to that world to be able to see it.

If you're definitely sure you're on the right character, try typing:

    /lmark (or /legacymark)

It might just be as simple as it's turned off. Hope this helps!

No that's for a legacy account (and you just needed to have subscribed for so long in a specific window of time. It's not actually related to the legacy tattoo, despite the use of legacy in both names)

Any 1.0 character has a legacy tattoo, even if their account itself doesn't qualify for legacy status (cheaper subscription and legacy chocobo mount). I have the tattoo, but didn't qualify for actual legacy status unfortunately.

Posting for my hubby here (since he was banned from the forums in 1.0 lol) He is a legacy character, and there was some bug or something awhile back (I forget when) that with hairstyle change it would sometimes remove the legacy mark. He had it, changed his hair, it poofed. To this day /lmark and /legacymark on/off do nothing, it remains gone. We played long enough, paid for our subs in 1.0 but did not talk to the NPC before it shut down, we had the legacy account for some time, then it went away. Though we are missing our 'bo's and goobuue's.

Thanks for the tips everyone, it seems like that character is just gone although I'm 99% sure I didn't delete it. I may very well have had to create a new one when ARR came out.

Did you transfer your 1.0 character data into ARR when you first started ARR? Your 1.0 character wasn't just 'available' in ARR upon starting, you had to select it by clicking a special icon that appeared on the character creation screen when starting ARR as a 1.0 player for the first time, that allowed you to transfer the data into the new game, and it would then inform you have a chance to remake your character once, (you could change things like appearence, and most importantly, set a starting class, as what class you started the game as determined which city you begun ARR in). This was also not the same as loading previously saved character appearence data, which is just a save of character creation settings you can reuse and not your actual character data.

Other than that, did you accidentally create a new Square Enix Account upon starting ARR instead of using your original account? A lot of Beta testers and former 1.0 players at the start of ARR got confused by this point and created new accounts instead of using their existing ones, meaning they couldn't access their 1.0 character data (or Beta Test Phase 4 character data) to transfer into ARR. There was no way of combining the two either, so unfortunately it seems your old 1.0 character is gone forever I'm really sorry to say.
