Feedback on new font for ingame names

They need to either give us an option to use the old one, or add an option to add a transparent grey background behind the text. The new font is too thin and very difficult to read against bright backgrounds, the letters don't have any shadow. As a workaround, you can play the game with DX9 client to get the old text back. Here is my comparison:

Out of curiosity, how many people have changed the colour of the names? That might help with the legibility of the font.

While I have no issues with the change they did, I can understand some would have trouble, and having either a toggle to switch back to the old font, or something to help make it more legible for others, would probably go a long ways.

I wouldn’t mind an option to revert back to the older text. When I noticed the new text and how thin it was, I thought to myself that some things may be more difficult for me to read. Especially on certain backgrounds. I don’t have the greatest of eyesights, and the heavier text of the original name plates got along with my eyes better. I’d rather not increase the font size when the issue can be remedied by simply toggling back to the heavier font.

I have. I use a dark purple for myself and party members, and a darker pink for friends list and FC members. The issue for me is more so the thinness of the font making legibility more difficult. Especially when resolution is higher. I don’t play at 4K but I do play at 1440p, and have for some time. The older font having more thickness and a shadow to it made it far more legible for me.

I've been playing with settings a bit, restarting game, etc.... it seems like DX9 is the only solution.
That new font is not only unreadable in most situations, but just so ugly! As an example, Im running around this NPC during diamond quest and the text of his name goes realy blotchy, and flashes between dark and light because its literally TOO thin for the pixels.
