World Visit Stuck - can't go home

I can't even access my alt now because of this. Basically 80% of the game is gone for me because I can't get them back to home server. I literally have a house there and plants growing there. While I understand issues happen--I do get it--but for me to pay for something I can't fully access? For several days? SE better compensate people who are basically 100% stuck. This is unacceptable.

Yep, Prob only fixed next Maintenance. Paying for the game and retainers and cant even use them... not to mention the amount of Gil we are losing right now as a crafter, where everything is super overpriced. Good job SE.

With prices going through the roof now is an AWESOME time to be a crafter. Look what your retainers have, pull up a spreadsheet, start working out where you can take advantage selling overpriced things you can make to other people!

I think the issue is that some crafters are essentially trapped on other servers and unable to access their retainers, so even if they could make something, it'd be really hard to sell it.

im confused about this comment. they're upset because they can't access their retainers. even if they look up via loadstone or the app, they still don't have access to their materials, nor can they get timed nodes to replace them. not to mention, they cant sell on the MB, they'd have to put a PF up or stand around shouting.

Investigation results have confirmed that the issue cannot be reproduced on the development team’s system environment and will require a maintenance on all Worlds to be performed in order to address the issue. A fix is required to the server in charge of processing each World, and because it must be handled with extreme care and potential fixes must be validated first, we believe that the World Visit System must be suspended for several days.

Yikes. As someone who works in web development, having to deploy a such a sensitive fix to business-critical production servers without being able to reproduce it on an internal test server would be a terrifying prospect. I'm sure glad I'm not on the team that has to do that. *shudder*

It goes to show that some some cracks in the system won't always present themselves until the product is pushed to live. Either way...yeah, that's a big oops on their end. As far as new patch issues go that's not quite as bad as a worst case scenario but it's up there.

Same. It's one of those yeehaw moments you gotta be careful with. So I can understand their utmost caution in the fix, because whilst yes, it's a problem for players, they don't exactly want to make it worse as the old song goes, "there are 99 bugs in the code, patch one out and there are 127 bugs in the code".


Speaking as somebody who heavily uses world visit and inconvenienced by this problem, it is what it is, bugs happen and the fact they couldn't replicate it in a test environment should explain how it slipped through. With the best efforts in the world live and test environments are different and only so much you can test when putting something live without making maintenance ridiculously long, even then bugs can still get missed.
