Honestly, they need to quick-fix this, otherwise, they're just a total waste of some very nicely designed glam tools...
They should have just saved these nice glams for Endwalker... Why release them now in such a horrible way?

“The best crafter is not the one with the best stats, but the one who makes the best use of one’s stats” – By Caimie Tsukino
Thank goodness for this thread. I was having anxiety over this heinous looking grind. Now that i see others feel the same i can rest easy not doing these. Thanks everyone for the voices of reason. Cheers![]()
As someone who got all the blessed tools in both HW and SB, I'd prepared for similar tools this time and had every recordable recipe crafted and every item gathered (and most fish). I can't put it into words how disappointed I was that their approach to similar tools this time was to tie crafted tools behind very significant expert recipe grinding while gathering tools remained the same. Just...why? Why switch it up like that? Why make it such a grind? I just don't understand it. Like I get it, it's glamour....so were the blessed tools. Definitely not worth the time or effort for even one of them, let alone 8.
I feel like something they could do to alleviate the nastiness of this whole process is something they did back in the old ARR relic tool days. Give us a way to get back the materials when we don't make a good enough turnin. Like, a 40k collectibility item can still be turned to get the 2 mats that went into it back, and 30k collectibility gets you one of the mats back. This way you aren't just gut punched back to the beginning unless you totally fail the craft. 30k collectibility I think is a pretty reliable amount for a person who is somewhat used to expert crafts even if they get pretty terrible RNG. This way, while the grind is still intense, at least the most demoralizing part of it - going all the way back to the start and wasting your previous successful expert crafts - isn't as much of a big deal. And it is something that could easily be patched in.
EDIT: And like the person above, I put serious effort into making sure I had every recipe ticked off with each patch, in expectation of the new I Made That achievement. Like, okay, I get that they wanted something different for the glam tools this time, but the new I Made That achievement should still have existed, maybe with a title or something this time. Like, why even bother checking the things off at all now? It's making me seriously question if I should put in the effort to fill out the log in Endwalkers if SE is just going to do the same thing again. Very bad decision on their part.

Same. Even without a shiny tool, those are one of my favorite achievements. I work my ass off to get them.EDIT: And like the person above, I put serious effort into making sure I had every recipe ticked off with each patch, in expectation of the new I Made That achievement. I don't get it either. When they considered adding a new title to the ranked seasons, they received a lot of feedback that people just didn't want to do that again, it was a burn out and exhausting. The Pteranodon mount has an extremely low acquisition rate too and there are even people who have admitted outside of the game to botting it. Experts worked because of the challenge and initial theorycraft, not the intense grind. They're both forgetting their design mentality of "if it's not fun you're doing it wrong" and overestimating the value of and how much "bragging rights" you get from crafting. It feels like Experts have become something to keep the players who enjoyed endgame crafts quiet in the corner, while they simplify the bulk of it and try to force it on the people who have no real interest in crafting to boost participation. They can say "but we gave you months worth of hardcore content!".
I too was looking forward to the Blessed Tools and making one of everything. It's a lengthy but relaxed grind and you end up with a ton of items to sell which is nice. Now, it's basically more cut content to me and one less thing to do this patch.
Other hardcore content gives useful rewards along the way with every success during those months. You get Relevation and Allegory, you get some sort of token (totems or books) that can be collected in small numbers to exchange for gear in a job of your choice (or for a mount in the case of the totems if you don't get lucky with a direct drop). You sometimes get other random loot (Orchestrion rolls, mounts, crafting material for bardings/housing items).I don't get it either. This isn't offering a comparable reward system unless we're expected to compare it to Ultimate. Spend hours making small progress until finally completed to get a tool (weapon) then repeat for each class.
This system also has an entry fee. We're required to spend large amounts of scrip to buy the materials needed to start the process for each tool. Other hardcore content does not have an entry fee.
I salute those who are willing to go to the effort to get their shiny gold tool. It's just not worth it to me.
Ah yes. This is the thread I needed.
Regged for the forum just to post here because RIP casual nice things. Not sure who asked for more expert recipes, but congrats to them. Moar hardcore only D: I never want to meld in my life and you didn't need to before. It was still a huge damn hurdle, but just annoyingly long, not annoyingly stat/RNG based.
FSH is still super hard, but I crammed 330 ish FSH in Jan to catch up to 4.5's achievement. But yeah... Too bad I didn't catch that bug where you could just ask the calamity salvager for resplendent tools :P
It was fun while it lasted though
I don't mind there being some insane optional grind for people who are bored, but I don't like the reward for all that effort being something that has no purpose besides crafter glam.
This long and punishing system could be an opportunity to allow crafters to make special armor equivalent to raid gear (530 currently) on the catchup patches. If you're gonna be doing hundreds of expert recipes, I think you deserve to produce something better than the typical inferior battle gear that crafting is usually limited to.
The timing of these resplendent tools was quite odd too... One patch after the finished 'relic' skybuilder tools comes an entirely separate grind that's even longer than a relic. It's ok for these things to be high difficulty, but why is it also a super long grind when we already have grindy tools. The glam won't even be very prestigious if we can just overlevel farm them in Endwalker with much higher stats.
Just popping in to say that I did all 8 Skybuilder's to 510, and thought about going back and doing this for the glim glams... NOPE!
I'll try again when all the crafters are at 90 in a few months. For now, it's a waste of time.
