They expect us to grind these right after we've already finished our Skysteel Tools?
No thank you, about the only reason to make these are glam.
Even with Tier VIII Materia, they have less stats.

Glam and bragging rights.
At least they've got the sockets to give some flexibility the Skybuilders don't have for those who want that shiny bad enough. Personally, I'd rather spend the time on the normal Expert to earn scrip to buy things I can sell or gift to friends.
Came here just to say exactly the same thing. I get it, those new 500 blues really are just for glamour (I think the effects look better than the Skybuilders) but the amount of grind needed for them is off the scale ridiculous when you need to make 60 items of over 7k quality which just can't be done via macro. I took a break for a few month's and I'm struggling already with the grind to get all the Skybuilders tools and Aesthete gear. I might just forget about expert level crafting altogether now until EW arrives.
Obviously, they were a joke.. They were only ever going to be treated as essentially being equivalent to Blessed Tools.
The grind for these is just too much for any sane person, far worse than even the pteranodon mount grind. If you have any respect for yourself at all, you will do the smart thing and not bother doing these until 6.0 when level 90 stats will make the grind more bearable (but still hellish). I'll be spending the next 6 months stockpiling my yellow scrip mats until then, thank you very much.
Honestly, besides the obviously overtuned grind, everything else about these is pretty cool. They look cool, they go on your back, they have materia slots, the process is a multistep grind with a variety of expert craft types culminating in a supremely difficult final craft, and they even have an achievement for doing them all. But the sheer number of times they demand that you do these difficult crafts is just absurd and ruins the whole thing. Shame.
We're talking 90-420 Experts per tool, so 720-3360 Expert crafts for the full set. This is assuming no fails. Also keep in mind they're less lenient on minimum collectibility than the Relic Experts, the last step is a 5 star craft and failing it means you've wasted both your A and B crafts needed to attempt it.
I agree the tools look great. Stats are better than Blessed Tools tend to be. They sit on your back and have a decent model (except that weird thing again where they half in size when you unsheathe them). The challenge is good. I might have been tempted to have a go at them, but after ranked seasons, the Pteranodon and the Relics I'm a bit burnt on grinding thousands of Experts, which is a shame when Expert crafting itself isn't a bad system. It just isn't as fun after countless hundreds.
I'll grab these in Endwalker. Life is too short.
I totally agree with you guys on this. The appearance is excellent, just as I requested in my earlier thread: large, on back, shine when unsheathed.
Having 3 slots really is silly. You need 1 slot obviously for CP. Then 1 slot for control, just to be on par with the Skybuilders' control. Then there's just 1 slot left... What are you gonna do? Control or craft? Having only 13 more control than the Skybuilders but suffers from a large deficit in craftsmanship? Or just make them even with the Skybuilders?
This grind is not worth our time until they either nerf it, or wait until our base stats are so strong that we just power through them.

I haven't posted on the forums for a long time and I logged on to comment on this too.
I remember picking up crafting during ARR. Caimie's guides really helped me get geared up and going through the myriad of paths one could take through the process and I enjoyed how many ways there were to steadily climb up the gear steps, since I started in late ARR and I didn't have to do it patch by patch. Since then crafting's gone through a lot of changes and I've more or less kept up to date. I have four out of the eight "Master" crafter titles, and someday I'll get all of them. But even with that, having crafted around 50 to 60 thousand HQ items overall, I think that this grind is absurd.
To begin with, the relics were already absurd because more doesn't equal harder, it just equals more tedious. I thought expert recipes were pretty fun to figure out and wiggle good collectability in there while working with what you had (until you run into 30 turns without pliant, but I digress), but doing it not just once, or thrice (I remember you, Supra and Lucis tools), but something in the range of 50 times per tool was very demoralizing. Still sat down for the grind, since it was feasible, and eventually you get the hang of it, so it just turns into a bit of a small waste of time, and you get the tool. Not the most fun grind, but still okay.
These tools are absurd. I already said it, and I'll agree with everyone else here. I actually started them tonight and I got 10 out of the 16 I crafted into suitable turn-ins, collectability-wise; 18 material B, then. But then I took a jab at the second step, and it's already a hassle with the change of condition lineup midway through the triple steps. I can't imagine what the five star item will be like. The fact you not only have to attempt making these things, which are the hardest thing ever made to craft in-game (I'd say they're even harder than the old "3.5 stars monstrosities") around 30-60 (but likeliest around 90-120) times but that if you fail, you have to start over and do step A and step B minimum twice total, possibly four-six times, just to get another shot at it?
I've made 60 thousand HQ items and while they're easily spammable now, this grind is what might cause me to burn out for real if I attempt it for even one tool. You'd think doing the hardest items ever maybe five times would be enough to satisfy the need for difficulty, but up to sixty times if you get unlucky with collectability (if the item is even usable in the first place) is way too much.
At a given point, more does not equal harder. More equals tedious.
This cements in my head the thought that Square Enix still has no idea of what crafting grinds should be.
Edit: Oh yeah and the absolute best joke is how EASY the gathering tools are to get. Just mine / chop / fish everything. Well, okay, fishing is legitimately a rough trip, but the rest are nowhere as hard as this. Miner and Botanist gold tools are a huge actual joke to get, not so much a joke as in the process like these tools. I think Fisher has the best balance, since getting almost every single fish recorded is pretty rough, but a fun trip.

I really thought those resplendent tools were going to be the victory lap for those who grinded skybuilder's tool (only craftable with Skybuilder's Tool Equipped) to entice people to actually make the relics but boy oh boy, never went from 100% hype to totally deflated so fast. Had to buy a cheeseburger to cheer myself up.
If they were victory laps for the Skybuilders' Tools, it'd have been SOOOOOOOOO GOOD! Imagine if they were just a another few more Expert Recipes (perhaps even harder recipes, but only need like 20) using the Skybuilders' Tools to craft, it'd have been perfect...I really thought those resplendent tools were going to be the victory lap for those who grinded skybuilder's tool (only craftable with Skybuilder's Tool Equipped) to entice people to actually make the relics but boy oh boy, never went from 100% hype to totally deflated so fast. Now they're just stupid... They serve absolutely no purpose! It's practically an alternative to Skybuilders in terms of stats. But it is a VERY steep grind that involves some very hard recipes. Isn't that exactly what the Skysteel tool quest was all about? We honestly don't need another Skysteel tool quest just to get another set of Skybuilders' Tools.... especially NOT right after we just finished Skybuilders' Tools!
