    Regarding Magitek:

I've long since given up trying to work out the limitations and perks of magitek at this point. There isn't much rhyme or reason to it beyond 'rule of cool' being put into play. It used to be that all magitek had a certain style to it clearly influenced by FFVI in particular - with some additional elements weaved in from time to time from FFXII.

It was specifically Allagan technology that happened to be super advanced and Garlean technology was initially portrayed as being powerful but not quite as powerful or as advanced as what the Allagans brought to the table.

Yet over time, they effectively became one and the same. Werylt gave us artifical Eikons and super advanced robots. Regula was able to use his trusty blade to summon forth a ceruleum familiar in the form of a proud tiger. There's many other specific examples I could draw upon, but basically...magitek is very, very different now to how it happened to be during the days of ARR.

Although I totally agree with you Theo (you know the world is ending when I find myself agreeing with you more and more! ), however I put that down to being a necessary weasel for adding other FF games machina into FFXIV - 1.0 Garlean technology all seemed to be fairly consistant in that it always utilized the standard 'cereleum engine' which was that catherine-wheel jet thing that stuck out the back of all Garlean technologies, from juggernauts to the Agrius. But starting with the introduction of FFVI magitek armour (both Amano's art design and the 'FFVI sprite' version), that started to change, and the cereleum tech seemed to get... far more advanced, to the point the actual engine became barely seen, lost among a mass of pipes or decorations. And once they added FFXII Ifrit-class airships into the game with their silly 'glossair rings', all bets were off.

So yeah, I guess there has definetely been a drift in the meaning of 'magitek' itself - no longer a fancy word for 'cereleum powered', it basically just means "Garlean high-tech" now, encompassing any kind of weird yet advanced technology.

    Yorha realted reply.
Considering this is (I think) the first alliance raid questline that had 'in between' quests for 5.2 and 5.4 I wouldn't be shocked if they added something in 5.55 as a conclusion. Weren't they being cheeky about not calling 5.5 the conclusion to the yorha story or something like that in a live letter?

More Yorha. Someone pointed this out to me today:

It is absolutely impossible that no one noticed that.

Indeed fires going on show that crash is fairly recent. So, a huge airship crashed into the mountain obliterating it and no one saw or heard anything. Not even dwarves living right beside crash site...

When it comes to Arenvald and Fordola

I think they are setting them up to be our post endwalkers companions. Especially Fordola. Since we know a whole new story is about to begin with 6.1, I would not put it past them to be setting up at least some of our new companions now.

    When it comes to Graha

I really hope he is not one of our future companions unless he learns to chill with the WoL fanboying. The way he looked at Estinien just made me want to push him off a cliff. He was great in the CT storyline, he was fine as the exarc for the most part, but this fanboying just makes him annoying

    Yshtola

I still think there is something fishy going on with her. Between the way she passed out in the Ascian library thing, her "going to collect her things" then just the weird interaction, music and everything from her last meeting with Runar. Too many flags. imo she has been body snatched by one of our missing ascian pals and may be working incognito either with or against fandaniel. Either that or she was taken prisoner by a rogue ascian on the first, who is now pretending to be her, and is still on the first. Which is fine, because they she could marry Runar and make him happy, which is all I really want.

To borrow a phrase from a series that shall not be named, G'raha is "still in his promotional period." It's easy to forget that Alphinaud and Alisaie had theirs, too, in the leadup to Heavensward and Stormblood respectively. Krile also got hers in the form of the Triad story, but then she basically took over as a less intrusive Minfilia and continues to dwell primarily in side stories.

We don't really know where G'raha will land after 5.55 (or if he'll even still be breathing), but there's a distinct possibility that he's still around the way he is because we need somebody else who remembers Emet-Selch. Their time together in Aumarot could be one big Schrodinger's Gun as far as the writers are concerned.

Krile is a side story? Dude she is literally the one moving the plot forward now. Recruiting for Estinien, pushing the Sharlayan intrigue, and tossing out the idea to free Hydaelyn from whatever is stopping her from speaking. That is not side story my friend.

G'raha needs better writing though (his creepy nature aside). At this juncture, because he's seen the dark timeline, can be around to say these final days are just as bad/worse then what the dark timeline had and maybe say hey I have the Allagen blood that will let us work the spaceship to go to the moon. In the mean time he'll make googly eyes. Even if he's an anime trope, the writing could be way better.

I think he meant more that her character is explored more in side content. I.e. Warring Triad and Eureka
