I think, when it comes to Hydaelyn, we might end up seeing something akin to Breath of Fire 3's Myria: An apparently benevolent goddess who is wholeheartedly sincere in her behavior, yet nevertheless has to go because her very existence is holding the world back in some fashion.
Anyways, week three of the dwarf stuff, and my post on the front page has been updated. An answer has been provided but, frankly, it's sunk in now just how disappointing getting the answers for what the hell even happened in a letter after all the principle actors have left the stage really is.
Week three and I realize I completely forgot about doing week two.

Wasn't the Nier crap meant to have disappeared at the end of Tower? How are we salvaging materials from the factory and satellite?

My guess is anything directly from the other world or made directly from the spears vanished with the closing, but anything build by them on the first using things from the first could stay? That would be my guess.
Guess it just comes down to preference, I enjoyed the Nier series and am liking both that it's continuing on in some fashion and that I'm getting more information, I don't mind that it's coming in letters.

Week 3 and we finally get a little bit of the "How?"
The Factory and Bunker sticking around are understandable; if they were created by creations, causally they should still be around even after the Seed and its creations are gone.
Being inquisitive by nature I like getting the answers, but to come in the form of what amounts to Tweets is just a little disappointing. Not a big deal, but it is what it is. Better question is "How did Konogg find this out?" if you ask me. (But we'll never know. It will forever remain a mystery, just like random animals carrying 148 gil and a magic fire ring.)

*5.5 spoilers*
Is the moon is shining noticeably brighter back on the Source in the wake of the 5.5 MSQ?
You can scarcely make out the details of its surface when it's at its peak, though the same does not apply to Norvrandt...which would make sense since their moon isn't being tampered with.
It was definitely the case in the 5.5 trailer showing the MSQ bits we haven't encountered yet, so perhaps it's ominous foreshadowing.
EDIT: After looking around more, this seems to apply strictly to the ARR areas. Even the few zones outside of ARR that have towers present and zones like the Sea of Clouds that would logically provide a clearer view of the moon aren't any different.
Slapped together a comparison picture of the moon viewed from the Lochs vs. Eastern La Noscea in the same hour/weather:
So....yeah. There's a very noticeable difference in how it looks now, and I distinctly remember it looking how did in the Lochs prior to me finishing the 5.5. MSQ.
If I had to wager why, I assume it's because the towers are slowly waking up Zodiark, which is going to be a very bad thing considering the implication that Hydaelyn is barely keeping the world stable as is. He might not escape from the moon proper, but having an angry, reality-warping super primal straining against his confines can't be good for anyone.
