    GPU Upgrade?

Hello everyone. In anticipation of the next expansion for this game, I am considering upgrading my GPU.

My concern though if it is worth it or just use my current system to the last drop and buy a whole new system in the future.

    My current specs are:

    Asus GTX 1060 3gb
    Intel Core i7 3770 3.4GHZ
    Corsair 16gb RAM
    Asus P8Z77-V Motherboard

My monitor is a 24 inch Viewsonic 144 hz 1080p

Thanks for any advice you guys and gals can give. Have not built a new PC for over 7 years so am really out of the loop now. My last upgrade was my current GPU which replaced my old GTX 960 2gb 3-4 years ago.

Aren't GPUs stupid expensive right now due to shortages or something? I doubt the reqs are going up significantly if at all.

The game doesn't even take much advantage of the GPU. Trust me I got a 3080.

A 1060 is more than enough for this game. Your CPU is kind of a bottleneck for this game though but should be more than enough to play this old game.

If you play at 1080p sure.

You can peg anything to 100% with high enough resolution or framerate.

I see thanks for input. I just thought that maybe a 3gb VC is now too low and would create bottleneck as I keep reading 6gb ram video cards are now the norms

Also since you mentioned my CPU is the bottleneck, I guess I might as well tough it out then and build a new pc in the future when supplies are more stable etc. I did thought about upgrading my CPU but my old motherboard means there is no longer any cpu available for it.

I don't know what kind of budget you have in mind but something like the new 3060 or 3070 would be a good upgrade.
I personally use 3090 but I don't just use my PC for gaming.

Play above 1080p and GPU plays a bigger role.

All of the new and current graphic cards are back ordered until next year so I would spend you money on upgrading the rest of your pc. A pci v4 m.2 drive will make your game feel like greased lightning but that requires a new main board and cpu.

    *cries in 4k*

Its just a REALLY bad moment to upgrade and unless money doesnt matter you really should wait.

I was in the same place and saved for a gpu, but as my chances were 0 and prices skyrocked i just got a new mb and a ryzen, which is basically sleeping during ffxiv xD
...but i still torment my poor RX580.... >_>

Edit: yes a new mb with an M2 does a lot.

PCI v4 barely makes a difference atm. I would save the money and get a PCI v3 instead. At least until we get similar SSD as in next-gen console on the market to a decent price.

I use MSI Afterburner and RTSS to watch how graphic adjustments effect my fps. I've stopped running high graphic settings and go for a minimum of 60 fps. I'm hoping I can get a gpu that'll let me run 1080p 60 fps/htz at max settings.
