Aren't GPUs stupid expensive right now due to shortages or something? I doubt the reqs are going up significantly if at all.

I have been hunting a 3060 TI, 3070, or 3080 for the last TWO MONTHS and they are all immediately sold out by bots the second they come in stock. It's gotten so bad I'm about ready to commission a whole ass new PC from one of the builders like Microcenter, then pull the GPU out. (I'm getting a custom in-desk watercooled PC....)
what would be a good setup to have a decent framerate at 4k resolution? ATM im running an fx8350 with a 1060 6gig and 32 gigs of ram. Im getting 20ish fps at 4k, with max graphics and some gshade enhancements. It seems ok, ive never gotten any lag or anything, But i imagine id notice a difference with higher fps maybe?
I would definitely upgrade that CPU before the GPU honestly. As for 4k the 1060 isn't gonna cut it as that's a 1080p card. You'd need to step up to an RTX 2070/3070 or AMD equivalent for playable 4K gaming. But there is a massive GPU shortage right now so it's pretty much impossible for anyone to find anything that is actually being sold for MSRP.what would be a good setup to have a decent framerate at 4k resolution? :edit: The reason I suggested upgrading the CPU before GPU is because that CPU is going to severely bottleneck any future GPU you purchase and you won't see much of an improvement in your framerates if that CPU isn't able to keep up with the GPU.

Yup the GPUs get sold out instantly atm, even the 3060 (which i was fortunate/unfortunate to get since it's 2/3 of the strength of a 3060 ti for the same cost...) sold out in less than 10 min from my local stores. And that is with the vendor prices being 100%-200% higher than the recommanded price from nvidia and amd.I have been hunting a 3060 TI, 3070, or 3080 for the last TWO MONTHS and they are all immediately sold out by bots the second they come in stock. Also in regards to 4k. I fail to see a reason to aim for that resolution yet if you want to max out fps. 1080p is mostly fine, and a lot of GUIs are still lagging behind causing texts to either be miniscule or blurry (if upscaled).
Luckily other components didn't seem that badly priced, other than the newest i7-9 11 something cpu's being worse than the 10-series.
