All of the new and current graphic cards are back ordered until next year so I would spend you money on upgrading the rest of your pc. A pci v4 m.2 drive will make your game feel like greased lightning but that requires a new main board and cpu.

PCI v4 barely makes a difference atm. I would save the money and get a PCI v3 instead. At least until we get similar SSD as in next-gen console on the market to a decent price.

All of you are correct. My CPU and MB is too old and I would probably be wasting my new GPU if I buy a new one now. Might as well save and build a whole new PC when prices and supplies stabilizes like you said. Thank you all I am really enjoying this game again after coming back two months ago after taking a break from Heavensward. Almost at Shadowbringer MSQ now I think

I am glad though that my 1060 can still run this game decently I lowered some of the shadow and reflection settings though just to make sure my GPU does not get taxed too much etc haha

    *cries in 4k*

Its just a REALLY bad moment to upgrade and unless money doesnt matter you really should wait.

I was in the same place and saved for a gpu, but as my chances were 0 and prices skyrocked i just got a new mb and a ryzen, which is basically sleeping during ffxiv xD
...but i still torment my poor RX580.... >_>

Edit: yes a new mb with an M2 does a lot.

I use MSI Afterburner and RTSS to watch how graphic adjustments effect my fps. I've stopped running high graphic settings and go for a minimum of 60 fps. I'm hoping I can get a gpu that'll let me run 1080p 60 fps/htz at max settings.

My 3090 can but I don't expect people to get that for gaming. A 3080 would do that just fine.

It does but it depends on many factors.
Take my pc for an example. I game at 1440p, uses a 3090 (don't use this for just gaming guys, it's a waste of money) and an i9 10 gen CPU. My CPU usage while gaming is not even 50%. Generally speaking everything above 1080p res the GPU is the bigger bottleneck in this game (and in general)

Do you think my GPU/CPU combo will be fine for endwalker?

Just as a data point, my GTX 1070 that I paid less than $400 when it was new, is now selling on Newegg for $1085. https://www.newegg.com/nvidia-900-1g...8886-_-Product

i.e., it's a really bad time to buy a GPU

So I upgraded to an i9 10th gen CPU instead (which of course, required a new motherboard and RAM) and FFXIV works fine (all games are on SSD, FF14 on a new M.2), but I'm only playing at 1080p.

At the moment, it's not really about what is optimal, which a better GPU certainly would be, but what makes the most sense for your gaming PC's budget.

Edited Note: Last time I played FF14, a couple of years ago, was with an i7-4790k, 32 GB RAM, and I don't notice an improvement with the i9 10th gen, 64 GB RAM. But I never noticed a problem with the i7-4790k, probably because I've only been playing at 1080p, and still have the GTX 1070. We have one PC that has a RTX 2070 Super playing at 1080p (bought when GPU prices were at MSRP), which is otherwise identical to mine, and if it's performance is better than my PC, it's not enough to make me jealous (but I did buy it for my husband as a birthday present a few years ago, and I hope he recognizes there was a method to my madness).

Lol. You are are an awesome gamer wife.

Yes I decided to stick with what I have and will just build one in the future when everything is more or less normal and I have the budget

yes. On my old pc ( that being used for NAS nowadays) has similar specs to yours and run fine (high preset and usually 60 fps everywhere)
