So, while I've been out with FMLA leave to care for my mom, I've noticed something: I've actually lost some weight. My left arm doesn't feel as swollen as it usually is. My legs don't feel as swollen either.
Don't worry, we're still eating alright. I'm starting to think it was from all of the stress and pressure my workplace doles out to every employee.

So it's been a little under 6 weeks, and the surgeon finally gave my mom leave to finally take the leg splint off, and be able to drive again! Yay!
This also means my FMLA leave will come to an end. Fooey.
Somehow while on FMLA leave I've been getting paid. I thought I wasn't supposed to get paid during this? Turns out my company's been using up ALL of my vacation time to pay me, which is something they're not supposed to be doing. So joy, I get to go back in tomorrow to get ahold of my boss and ask as to why he f*cked up big time. I already called corporate and there's nothing they can do to fix it, it's all entirely on my boss and my store manager.
If they can't fix it, I don't know what to do. I'll be out of vacation time for the entire rest of the year.

Not nessicarily for FMLA, some companies if you have the PAID TIME OFF will still pay you until there is no more PTO. Afterwards you won't get paid. All FMLA basically does is makes sure that the company doesn't fire you for not working due to having to take care of either yourself or a close family member for medical reasons. The FMLA only requires unpaid leave. However, the law permits an employee to elect, or the employer to require the employee, to use accrued paid vacation leave, paid sick or family leave for some or all of the FMLA leave period. An employee must follow the employer’s normal leave rules in order to substitute paid leave. When paid leave is used for an FMLA-covered reason, the leave is FMLA-protected.
