There's a big bottle brush tree outside of the house I currently live in, and every spring we get bees visiting it, which has always made me very happy, as it is one of the few ways to connect with nature that I have where I live right now, and I just really find bees amazing and wonderful. Yesterday someone call the firefighters because apparently there were "too many bees in the way" or some sh*t and I don't know what they did to them. Today there were still a few visiting the tree, and I think they'll be fine... but it just made me really angry. I can only hope their hive is ok. They've never been a problem, but people can't handle a few bees visiting a tree in their street...
To play Devil's advocate, the person who called the Fire Brigade might have been allergic to bees or have small children etc. I've had to call environmental health before due to the amount of wasps that got into my flat during the summer.
