    Crown lengthening. Putting in spoiler tags in case someone really doesn't wanna know.

    I had a root canal on one of my back molars a few months ago, but there wasn't enough tooth left over the gum line to attach a crown. So the surgeon had to open up my gum, take a little of it off, and then grind down a little of the jaw bone underneath to make room.

    At least you got to keep your tooth. I had to get one of mine completely removed due to a nasty abscess that killed the root. The implant was an absolute pain to get, not to mention expensive, and out of pocket.
