I always found Amarant to be extremely useful. Only falls behind if you're stopping to grind out, which you don't really need to in 9. But I'm no 9 know it all though. Throw deals full damage from the back row. Was it quadruple or double on flying foes? *shrug* No delay on it either compared to things like Jump.

The ATB in 9 drives me insane. It's much slower than all prior entries, even with haste it's barely tolerable. Freezes during animations and crap. It's one of the reasons I've only replayed 9 a few times.

"I thought that my invincible power would hold the world captive, leaving me in a freedom undisturbed. Thus night and day I worked at the chain with huge fires and cruel hard strokes. When at last the work was done and the links were complete and unbreakable, I found that it held me in its grip." - Rabindranath Tagore

If they doubled the speed of the battles, it'd feel much more in line with other FF games. But sadly it's slow as hell, which makes things like Regen absolutely broken. By the time an animation is done, you've gotten 3-4 ticks of HP in, pretty much invalidating the damage you've taken. Auto-Regen breaks the game's difficulty for you practically.
