I killed him simply with reflect magic/physical. Then I discovered Phantom Pain. At that point I carried 6 crossbows with full Phantom Points and would use that attack once for each bow. Easy peasy. Phantom Pain does 1:1 raw damage regardless of defenses for every Phantom Point the weapon has. The drawback is it drains all the phantom points of the weapon and will be naturally weaker unless you build it back up using the weapon regularly. Since it's the final boss...who cares?
