I don't remember roles being in the game and if so I think it's lame that the default role for that person is that considering you just picked them up and then it throws that fight in.You actually need a specific role on said character (Skulker), since it lowers their likelihood of being attacked. Meanwhile you need another role (Instigator) on one or more party members that INCREASES their odds of getting attacked. You're essentially trying to play the AI into focusing on you and ignoring them. It works pretty well, but every now and then one or more of them will still try to aim at said person.
When you deal with human beings, never count on logic or consistency.
Fluid like water. Smooth like silk. Pepperoni like pizza.
Roles are basically modifiers for attacks, damage, etc etc. Playing them right can get you to absolutely destroy enemies. But it's also a nuisance to get some roles to begin with. Instigator alone requires you to kill 5 enemies at the same time. Also, I made a mistake there, you want Assassin on her, which requires her getting Ace and Sharpshooter up to level 3.

That sounds like it's later in the game. I'm talking about the first hour. I doubt within the first hour I can set up several roles or have them leveled. Then again I only played it an hour with 30 minutes of it trying to get past that one fight so I could be wrong. The fight killed my interest in the game completely.Roles are basically modifiers for attacks, damage, etc etc. Playing them right can get you to absolutely destroy enemies. You should have access to roles from the beginning of the game. That sounds like it's later in the game. I'm talking about the first hour. EDIT: And Ethereal Queen is down...3 times over in Star Ocean: The Divine Force. Sadly she's required for 2, count them 2, trophies. One for beating her 3 times so she's at full power, the other for beating her at the minigame. Yes, she's the final minigame opponent, and can only be challenged after her 3rd defeat and you must have beaten the Grand Champion of the minigame in the starting town. Turns out the local gun user absolutely DESTROYS her with the right stuff on. The ultimate not only shoots one hell of a laser, it leaves a gigantic multi-hitting blast. Took out 85% of her health with just that. Now all I have left is Item Creation, all chests, all bunnies, beating the final boss on the highest difficulties, then a 2nd playthrough for the last endings (Raymond and Laeticia have their own unique endings with all party members).
