My meme magician deck did really well in duel links surprisingly, until subterror cards dropped and all of a sudden I was facing 3000 defence monsters on turn on with all kinds of effect protections. So then it's like ok, I either play with cards I don't want to, that I'll probably have to spend money to get, orrrr... I just play the old game and mess around on that. I'm glad I did, way more fun. Granted my deck was a bit dirty, it was a turn one Shutdown using mirage dragon and dark paladin to deny them the ability to react to anything I did haha.

I'm well aware that the period I played it as a kid and enjoyed (original, GX, tiny bit of 5ds), is kinda a different game to the stuff we have now with all the crazy Synchros/XYZ summons... I could sorta get my head around them but I felt the black/white cards looked weird. Then pendulum summons became a thing and I was like nope nope, not doing it lol. Gimme my Destiny End Dragoon.
I played Yugioh back when it first came out in the US. My Exodia deck was undefeated for years. Then the card shop I played at closed down, and I fell out of the game. Now I have absolutely no idea what's going on with it, and the plethora of different summoning styles, absurd power creep, and generally being a rich kid's game has put me off of trying it out again.
