OK, tried Tower of Fantasy. But i am absolutely not into it. I cannot grasp what is going on in the game. The characters are strange, the NPC dialogs make no sense to me.
Cheers

Speaking of things that make no sense, I tried out YGO: Master Duel after getting a card game itch. As someone who stopped playing when the Hero architype was released it was crazy seeing a deck that can summon 6+ monsters that can be used for fusion, the white fusion, the blue fusion, and finally the black fusion. I might duck out and just check out Legacy of the Duelist and save myself the FOMO and just make fun meme decks, lol.
She also wrote the Crystal Tower raids, the Far Eastern "half" of Stormblood, and Endwalker (which despite the strident criticism on this forum was well received in the wider community).
Have yet to encounter work of Ishikawa's I don't enjoy.
I played Master Duel for a few months but then they changed it so you only got matched with people of the same ranking (before it was bracket based, so Gold could play any other Gold player etc.) and being able to play fun decks wasn't viable for even daily progress. Built a meta deck and clawed my way to Diamond, then noped out because it remined me metagaming is a necessity in TCG / CCGs and I just want to play my big dumb Red Supernova Dragon (poor boy doesn't get an animation). Plus the pull rates are ass.Speaking of things that make no sense, I tried out YGO: Master Duel after getting a card game itch. I understand how to play it, but the level of metagaming necessary to scrape out wins past Gold V is egregious. Plus Master Duel is JP format only (or was when I played it), which allows obnoxiously oppressive cards like V.F.D., Rhongo, Imperial Order, etc. Yeah, just get Legacy of the Duelist if you're just looking to play... only problem is it's a few years out of date (Master Duel isn't quite current, but it gets regular updates that keep it closer).

I think that's a rather strange take, given that you're a fairly frequent poster on the lore forum and have seen multiple lore enthusiasts have mixed reactions towards the expansion. Each to their own, I guess.
I meant the Official Forums in general, not this specific subforum.
Pray forgive my inaccuracy.

Fair enough. Either way, I think it's fair to suggest that Endwalker proved to be pretty divisive. Especially when compared to previous expansions. Not just in regards to the story elements either but the handling of content elsewhere.
I do think Ishikawa's hands were tied to some extent. Having to rewrite things at the last minute and having a planned expansion scrapped will inevitably have negatively impacted the overall story - especially with so many existing plot threads being abruptly closed off all at once.
Master Duel is a thing. Its fun when you get someone of your same skill level but as soon as you get out of gold you better be packing a meta heat and then you might just end up watching some guy play solitaire.I understand how to play it, but the level of metagaming necessary to scrape out wins past Gold V is egregious. Over the Nexus and Tag Force 5 are still peak Yugioh gaming
I played for the first few months; stopped the season after Swordsoul became a thing because I built that to claw my way up to Diamond and wasn't having fun with it. I liked playing Rokket / Borreload and Red Dragon Archfiend, but those become unviable at higher levels.Master Duel is a thing. I mean, the metagaming is just egregious. Synchro event? Better play True Dracos!
... I never did play competitively, and only really kept up with it until the end of the first season of GX. But I saw the Borreload designs and was like "Those are awesome!" and fell in love with their gameplay, same as RDA.

I ended up tooling around Master Duel and then quickly realized that after I spend all of my new player gems/easy gems on making a meta deck I don't care to play I will fall behind once they introduce a new set that will introduce a new tier one/zero deck I will fall behind quickly unless I spend some money for gems for pulls/desynths. Sorry Konami, SE already has number, I don't need another company jingling their keys in my face hoping I dig out my debit card, lol.I played for the first few months; stopped the season after Swordsoul became a thing because I built that to claw my way up to Diamond and wasn't having fun with it. That said, I am enjoying Legacy of the Duelist: LE. Deskbots are a pretty fun deck to play with and it releases those sweet endorphins when I get a 4, 3, and 9 out. Wipe their board with Deskbot Jet and power up 9 to a stupid attack level, and go full unga bunga I got bigger stick mode by swinging with a 125000 monster, lol.

I'd advise that. Modern meta-yugioh is very tiring and uninspired. I had way more fun messing around on LotD with my magician/destiny hero/fairy decks than I did on duel links/master duel. I feel like the current game is too meta orientated and fast paced. My meme magician deck did really well in duel links surprisingly, until subterror cards dropped and all of a sudden I was facing 3000 defence monsters on turn on with all kinds of effect protections. So then it's like ok, I either play with cards I don't want to, that I'll probably have to spend money to get, orrrr... I just play the old game and mess around on that. I'm glad I did, way more fun. Granted my deck was a bit dirty, it was a turn one Shutdown using mirage dragon and dark paladin to deny them the ability to react to anything I did haha.Speaking of things that make no sense, I tried out YGO: Master Duel after getting a card game itch. I'm well aware that the period I played it as a kid and enjoyed (original, GX, tiny bit of 5ds), is kinda a different game to the stuff we have now with all the crazy Synchros/XYZ summons... I could sorta get my head around them but I felt the black/white cards looked weird. Then pendulum summons became a thing and I was like nope nope, not doing it lol. Gimme my Destiny End Dragoon.
