Like I went to Keesler very early in my career and the zoomi..err Air Force cats would wear red and blue lanyard things and they would be like e-2 and e-3 which was some kind ranking in there tech school or something and think they could tell the navy and marines there what to do and I always got a kick out of telling them what they could do with there orders.

And then in Yoko you'd see some ships stick with there own rank unless they were over achievers, a certain type of person working for that 5.0, or were stationed on the Kitty Hawk (who did whatever they wanted to and use to get all of 7th fleet in trouble all the time). Before I met my wife I use to stick with the 3rd and 2nd classes because it was usually safe. There was enough trouble going that I didn't want that extra heat. Like yeah we did command stuff and cookouts but that was usually it. If your Chief walked into the bar, restaurant, pachinko parlor it was as bad as if shore patrol walked in and it was time to go. The Essex that was down in Sasebo fraternization got so bad with there MA's that they got investigated and caused everyone else to check themselves and that made me extra weary.

I can say that I personally didn't truly start hanging around Chief's and Officer until I got Frocked 1st class.
