Don't know why lower enlisted always felt uncomfortable around NCOs/COs. They are just like everyone else when out of uniform...( Most of them anyway. Some want to be addressed by rank at all times and no one likes them )
We'd have cook outs and whatnot on the weekends. Technically we weren't suppose to mingle with the COC but we also operated as "It hurts no one if we tell no one".
For example I have a few different laughs depending on the mood...and they found a particular laugh they couldn't get enough of but it only happens when I'm tickled. Apparently I sound like a mix of Elmo and Charles Lee Ray AKA Chucky. It came out during a trip to Louisiana when WAR-X ( I think that's how it was spelled ) was going on in which the Reserves had like a month of training exercises and the actually Enlisted were there for support. So at one point I think I was accidentally tickled with something and I laughed...and you would have thought time stopped because it got really quiet with everyone looking at me. I told them sorry and that it doesn't happen often cause I don't get tickled often...BIG MISTAKE.
So now for the remainder of the exercise I'm getting ambushed left and right so they can hear the laugh. It starts to spread to other companies. I actually had an LT seek me out cause he had to see for himself.
Then once back home...it spread to the rest of my company and some of the other companies. It was a weird 2 years from that point. Also no I was never offended and they stopped the moment I wanted it to stop.
