Ofc, but I don't really think that changes why people were upset.
He also says a lot that he doesn't care about views but I dunno if that's true honestly.
I think all people want really is some transparency and to not be strung along and have their time wasted.
Honestly if he'd rather just stream react content and drop FFXIV entirely I'd be fine with that I just don't enjoy being lied to.
And I think that goes beyond people who want to see him play FFXIV too it's a growing sentiment and I think something people don't enjoy in general.
When he streamed it before the break he wasn't doing the react meta, so if he wants to continue doing what he's doing right now I think he should be more mindful with the marketing of his content.
He can't really market it the same way as he did in the past because it's not the same.
Especially with all of the hype and anticipation behind it that built up over a whole year.
I honestly feel a bit bad for the friends he made ingame too, it's probably not fun waiting like that all excited to be a part of the stream and help him in the content like before.
Then it just doesn't happen at all and you sat there 6-8 hours logged in waiting.
It should be noted tho that when he streams games on his main channel he still gets around the same views as with react content.
Maybe a couple of thousands less at most.
It's moreso that Zackrawrr isn't his main channel so it's going to get less views.
If you haven't given it a chance yet then I highly recommend checking out Mikepreachwow's PvP tournament.
I think that was really top tier content and very fun to watch.
In general tho I kinda agree with you I only watch very specific stuff and some of it is also just background noise.
I don't particularly enjoy most of the big streamers tho I find that they're often very immature and just scream a lot or act like a douchebag.
It really feels like a lot of streamers that got popular as kids especially just never grew up, like they're stuck in this permanent stage of being a teenage boy.
One of my favorite streamers tho is a Youtube streamer called '' Turin '', he streams RTS games ( mainly Warhammer but also other games, recently quite a lot of Age of Empires ).
He has a great narrator voice and is legit really knowledgeable and puts on a ton of tournaments.
There was one pretty hilarious Age of Empires finals he casted that was full of politics, betrayals and drama between the players and had a REALLY unexpected ending that legit had me laughing the last 20-30 minutes or so.
It's hard to say and honestly I just never really experience it ingame at all.
I mean I am not saying I literally never experience toxicity, but it's rather low levels of toxicity all things considered.
I feel like the online climate is quite different tho and I do think people have become more negative about the game, and I am sure some will disagree with me on this but I do feel like most of it is artificial.
I don't mean artificial in the sense that it's trolling, what I mean is that people are getting really worked up and are being extremely antagonistic and legit angry about either rather minor issues or fairly typical technical gaming issues.
Like I dunno if you saw the thread about Yoshida saying that we'd complain about the lack of glam space in 3 months, imo I think that's just blatant toxicity of taking what he said and spinning it into outrage bait.
It's going out of your way to read something very negative into a completely harmless comment made in jest.
And it's something I think happens a lot at least on this forum but possibly elsewhere too.
People are just very angry and heated and have a tendency to think that the devs hate us or are completely incompetent and are never happy with any content and that people who aren't as unhappy as they are are '' shills '' or whatever.
In that sense I do think there is splintering happening, but I don't believe that it's justified.
I do think that some people legit just want to be mad.
That's my pov tho and my pov is going to be influenced by my experience ingame too and the people I watch and follow.
Maybe that angry part of the community is expressed elsewhere too, I simply don't see it but I will ofc admit that it doesn't mean that it doesn't exist.
Edit: Wtf, when I tabbed into the game again someone had just whispered me '' am i ugly? '' LOL.
I swear I keep getting whispered weird stuff late at night/ early in the morning when I am standing around in Limsa.
