Tbh while yes there's some people who take it too far I am sure ( there's people both on 4Chan and his own Subreddit who have been planning to be disruptive too when he came back to it, they're openly posting about what they're doing ).
I do think he's at fault for the non-troll reactions.
And he kinda acted like a baby about it when people made the request that he'd change the title or at least tell people that it ain't happening when he knows it won't.
He basically said that if people tell him to do something he just refuses to do it, even if it's a perfectly reasonable request it seems.
I dunno but to me that's incredibly immature and a bit silly to act superior about and act like a victim for.

I think it's understandable why people get a bit mad when they're promised a certain game and then six hours of react content into the Stream he does his Allcraft podcast and then ends the Stream, all with '' FFXIV MSQ '' in the title and having hyped it up for almost a year.
People can make all these excuses about '' it's Asmongold you should know he's like that '', but I mean that's a very bizarre excuse imo.
'' Someone is doing something wrong but it's okay because they always do something wrong '', wat?
It's a situation he created himself.

That's my take on it at least, I kinda feel like Asmon as well as the Streamers and a lot of people defending him seem a bit out of touch with the reality of normal people and how much their time actually matters.
Wasting six hours like that is no joke and it's a pretty big deal to most people because they only have so much free time, it's easy to make excuses for it if you're the one making a living off of it.
Even with the argument of '' you can just check the tag '', it's still a waste of time to have to check in constantly to look at the tag.
While changing the title for him takes a few seconds and helps thousands.

Edit: Also I think FFXIV and FFXIV players are being turned into a scapegoat of sorts, the frustration with his stream turning into react meta has been a growing frustration this past year.
I think people having waited so long does make people more mad about it tho and then you also add 4Chan and his own fanbase who hates the game having planned to be disruptive too into the mix.
I mean even his chat spams him about how he's wrong that it just suddenly started happening with FFXIV, ppl started watching him for gaming content and have become increasingly frustrated that 80-100% of his streams now is react stuff.

This. He's basically just become a regular react Andy, but with not enough commentary/leaning too much into the Asmongold character for it to even be interesting. When he's playing games - ANY game - it's a lot more lively. But when he's sat there for 6 hours reacting to videos and tweets, I can't help but think "man... I could be watching Vaush or youtube or *anything* else, but I was promised content."

He even took back his manbaby tantrum ("I'm nyot gownna pway FFXIV because EVERYONE'S being mean to mwe wah wah wah") when he took a step back and recognized that this was a problem *he* created and perpetuated.

Altho it shouldn't be underestimated how good they are at egging people on and causing drama, they've done this multiple times on a very large scale even in the mainstream and had global news coverage based on bullcrap they spread ( like the okay hand sign and all that ).
When I read his chat too it's mostly people '' malding about the malders '', not saying that there aren't people going too far but I think it's an EXTREMELY tiny group especially when you also account for the people who are trolling and trying to stirr drama.
I think the overwhelming majority of people are being quite reasonable and just don't want to have their time wasted, that's all really.
It's pretty disingenuous imo that people are trying to spin it into '' FFXIV community so toxic '', it's just ignoring all surrounding context.

It's also easier for Asmon to individually act in a positive manner than tens of thousands or even more people.
It only takes him like two seconds and you save people 6-8 hours of their time.
Then again, Asmon has said before that if something benefits him at the expense of others he'll do it.
If wasting peoples time benefits him financially it wouldn't surprise me too much if he does it intentionally tbh, but I also think that he doesn't get to act like a baby when people rightfully call him out on it.
He's the one benefiting from it while others are only losing, who has the actual right to be upset in the equation?

Edit: There's going to be mixed thoughts on this too but I see a lot of people just saying '' it's his stream '', I mean sure.
But the viewers are the reason why he can stream for a living, and that same argument could be applied to other businesses that people love to criticize ( Asmon himself included ) including game companies.
It's their IP's, their servers etc.

I think that as soon as money get involved things change, in the end of the day it's a job.
No one can tell him what to do the same way no one can tell Blizzard or SE what to do, but it's fair to criticize and have some basic expectations.

And I understand what you mean. And it is undoubtedly a combination of both. But i don't think that its as small slice of the community as people would like to believe. But it feels like the community is changing. It's not like LoL or WoW-esque community problems but something different. Like we are splintering. Not unlike the high point of the Gilgamesh vs Balmung conflict.

Yes, if he'd just say halfway into the the stream "ehh not gonna play today" its perfectly fine, but he could like, play first as long he feels like and then do 5 hours of reaction stuff...

I did like his vid to the 1.0 documentary lately, but overall i just dont like reaction stuff, much rather i watch the vid myself....


Also its silly of him gettin mad for wanting him to play the game as its about him, not just ff14 - there TONS of other streamers you could watch. Really i get why its annoying to get told to play but thats literally what ppl tune in for... Like make an Asmon react channel for solely that and youd skip that drama lol

I think all people want really is some transparency and to not be strung along and have their time wasted.
Honestly if he'd rather just stream react content and drop FFXIV entirely I'd be fine with that I just don't enjoy being lied to.
