i wanted to like elfenlied but it just tried too hard
i can't really pinpoint why but i'll say evangelion did the gore and psychological trauma horror perfectly until the end lol

To this day I'm not sure what Instrumentality is, and I've seen Evangelion three times. It abruptly ended after everyone congratulated Shinji. I know there's been multiple OVAs and sequels (I think) but I haven't watched any of them.

yeah it gets really complex towards the end and i think it could have used a much more simplistic ending then what abstracts they tried to convey - this is at least where elfenlied shines
how i understood instrumentality in terms of evangelion it'd be probably just be humanity's evolution to a hivemind
but who knows xD
