It's always funny and weird to me to see people in FPS games that are going full '' tacticool '' especially FPS that are meant to be a bit more '' realistic '' ( not simulators but not CoD or Battlefield either ).
I like Insurgency Sandstorm a lot it's fun, but you'll have the whole team be pretty standard and easy to identify, then you always have this one guy who's running around in the desert/ cities wearing a Ghillie suit, random gasmasks for no reason, skimasks with skulls painted on them, netted masks etc all in black and their weapons with every accessory imaginable on mic being ultra serious sometimes even using military lingo they heard in a movie.

All that really ends up happening is that you shoot them by mistake because they're always running ahead of everyone and not sticking with the group, so you walk up on them and you have no idea if they're friendly or not because their absurdly overequipped appearance makes it impossible to see.
Often times they'll even look like the enemy too.

Srsly tho, if you look like this ( what r u planning to do with those shotgun shells lol? )

How am I supposed to know if you're a friend or enemy xD?
Tbh you'll look more like an enemy to me than a friend ( there's no name tags over peoples heads either ).

I mean I am not against edgy stuff, my character in FFXIV is pretty edgy lol.
But when it's a game that isn't fantasy it kinda just feels different to me especially a game that isn't super arcadey or like Fortnite.
There's just something really bizarre imo to see people in a more '' realistic '' military setting running around like this, and it also makes it just impossible to know which side you're on.

Did they have no name tags or any way to identify who was an ally tho?

Earlier today I was playing Insurgency Sandstorm and we were sticking together as a group but we had a guy like this, and when we entered a room he had runned way ahead of us and was camping it and we all just unloaded on him lol.
By default and how most people glam their characters it's usually easy to see, Security forces have more military looking gear while Insurgents have normal clothing.
But some people make their characters look totally impossible to distinguish just by looking especially quickly when you have to make a decision immediately.

You ever played a game like Rising Storm, where you can't even see the enemies often times?

Just reminding me the French will never sell their left over stock of Famas'es to the civilian market. Pain.
