here y'all go to make up for my sillies, my two boys this morning who (not so politely) asked for sticks

What animals are those?
At first I thought they were rats but they look different to me?
They're cute regardless, I never understood why so many people are scared of rats either.

Chinchillas! Big mountainous rodents.

I'm not scared of rats perse, but I'm more afraid of losing them if I took them out of the cage lol. Much harder to do that with a chinnie with how floofy/chonk they tend to be

Rats are incredibly loving, intelligent, and clean pets. Once my cats pass away I'll probably go back to keeping them.

No way. Rodents relieve themselves wherever they stand! Disgusting. I honestly don't know how anybody can have dirty animals like that around in their house. Granted, I think most animals are dirty except for fish (Even then it's mostly contained and they aren't too hard to keep). No offense. I'd probably keep them in my garage or something. I don't mind dogs too much, but they fulfill another purpose, like guarding the house/property.

A fun fact.. you can actually "potty" train some rodents.. it's not easy, but you can lol. I'll speak experience from chinnies but you can set up a little litterbox space for them. Rodents are surprisingly clean animals - I won't speak for rats, but chinchillas LOVE dust baths and grooming themselves, and they will do it as often as long as you provide them the dust.

Don't get me wrong, I think a lot of animals are cute, and I like animals, but I just don't want too many of them living with me in my house. Especially cats, like, I really don't like cats. At all. Kittens are cute though.

Chinnies are a bit of a mystery until you get them yourself, I think. Then it's just.. hours and hours of 'chilla research, tbf lol.

I have allergies to cats, but even then I'm naturally a small animal/dog person, so I get it lol. I don't like cats either so I relate. I know cats/kittens can be sweethearts, but too many scary stories about them being complete a-holes and jerks make me go "nope". I'm also okay with my furniture not being climbed on/toppled over to their death :P

I do know dogs can be jerks too, believe me, I'm just biased lol. Having an old man with a slight embodiment of a terrier personality will teach you all about jerk dogs.

I have heard they were pretty difficult to keep, or, rather, you should be well prepared for them. I think they have to take dust baths for some reason.

I have had bad experiences with numerous cats growing up. They are just plain dirty animals. Even if they are fixed, they track filth all over the house. Jump on counters, tables, etc.. Maybe it's a bit of an OCD thing, where I don't want to deal with their filth, but they are objectively pretty dirty animals. There are a couple stray cats in my neighborhood, and I have watched them spray on everything on my front porch. It's annoying. Well, they aren't even strays, the woman across the street just has like tons of unfixed cats roaming around the town.

I was raised around a dog while growing up, so I probably just have a soft spot for them. I don't think they are very clean, but the benefits of having a dog, generally, outweigh any negatives when it comes to cleanliness. I don't like little dogs either. My first dog growing up was a rottweiler, and I have a Pitbull (red nose). right now. So, I kind of like specific kinds of dogs. We were given the pitbull, so it wasn't my first choice of breed. I like Rottweilers and German Shepherds the most.
