sounds like they ported it directly from PS5 and called it a day lol

I'll probably hold off until they update it. I'm in no rush and I want the best experience possible
I got some pretty terrible stutters particularly in the open world and it's definitely not my PC.

Yeah it's kinda sad, tbh I have mixed opinions on the open world too but I haven't gotten far so I'll hold off on my final opinion on it.
But I just don't really like these huge empty spaces, even if there's stuff to find I still don't like having huge amounts of empty space between those things.

The mount at least feels better than I thought but imo it kinda feels like it's mostly just making up for the open world thing to make it less tedious to traverse but it's still tedious, and there's not much depth to the mounted combat.
When I think of a Souls game then sure I think open world to some extent, but not in the Skyrim sense.
It doesn't lend itself to it as well as Sekiro did imho.
Same thing with running around gathering and all that, doesn't rly feel like Souls to me it feels like a Ubisoft game or something.

I am enjoying the game definitely, technical issues aside and me being tired with Ubisoft-esque open world games.
But I do find the open world parts to be the least interesting and it just makes me wish it was a bit more traditional like the old games.
I also don't like the character creator at all, if you want to create a hideous monster it's fine but I kinda miss Nioh 2's creator.
The animations are also very re-used I wish they had actually made more new ones it feels a bit too much like DS1-3 in that department even just how a lot of NPC's move.

The best thing about the game atm has been the world design on a visual level it's very unique and impressive.
I also think the story telling is better, there's still a lot of mystery but it does a better job at kinda getting you hooked on it ( the opening cinematic when you first create your character especially ).
Maybe I'll agree with the praise after I've finished it but my initial impression after spending some time with it is that the rather extreme praise is perhaps a bit overblown.
Like I wonder how much hype and love for the Souls series has actually influenced that, to me it feels like Sekiro but Dark Souls and with less fun world traversal and more basic combat.

Edit: It should be noted tho that the stutters are mainly occuring in the open world ( yeah again, the open world.... ).
It seems to be when it's loading stuff in but it's very very noticeable and happens during combat too.
The '' indoors '' parts are easily my favorite it's when it actually feels like Dark Souls again and the performance is the most stable.
