I always wonder why things like meat and eggs are so... pungent. My mom always has to turn on the electric chimney and the exhaust fan in the kitchen when any of those is cooked. Especially eggs... gah, they leave a stink in the breath and the dishes.

As far as eggs go, it's because they have iron and sulfur in them, which have strong odors.
Meat contains some level of bacteria and other microbes which produce aromas when cooked. Also when the meat rots.
