My first and one of the few PvP experiences I had in FFXIV was both negative and positive.
It was negative because we had an elitist MCH who was being very try-hard and acted like it was a premade, and like the second we were about to lose I went Leeroy Jenkis ( because why not we had already lost duh ).
And the MCH saw it and went completely mental about it and turned me into the scapegoat why we had lost and started claiming that I had been doing that the entire match and that's why we lost ( I was the second highest rank on our team, so wat? ).
I only did it at the very end when we had already lost rofl, the entire time I had been following the group as a Healer.
He also started blaming the other Healer too.
People actually whispered me afterwards tho and said that I did a good job and shouldn't listen to him, and it was multiple people so it outweighed the bad one.
And I did think that PvP was surprisingly better than I had heard.
I dunno what it is with the FFXIV community but I think people are very negative about all of the content.
A lot of Streamers new to FFXIV will skip stuff like Bozja because people make it sound like a Korean MMO grindfest and like it's absolutely horrible, Mikepreachwow tried it and he loved it.
It was so good it made him do a video almost revolving entirely around it and why he thinks that type of endgame is better than the endgame in WoW.
Same with Palace of the Dead, Eureka and even the story.
If you listen to the loud ones on the forums and in comment sections you'd get the impression that the story is horrible and that you should just skip.
There's so many examples I can think of where people told me some content in FFXIV sucked and then I tried it and enjoyed it a lot, and I've seen so many Streamers having the same experience too.
A lot of people seem to act like if it's not perfect then it's literal torture.
