So…VRMMO when?

So…VRMMO when?

Woke up, had some coffee, wondering what the forums have in store for me.
And I find this glorious quote with no context and I will not find out the context because this statement alone somehow personifies my life choices.
And I'm ok with this.

There is No Man's Sky which has co-op play in VR but that's what not you are asking. I like that, and my latest headset is so clear and nice.
As for VR-MMOs a few tries for it were done, but it's been a bit trolly, and they tapered off fast (all had voice chat, and that leads to bad behaviour - or over engineered a motion sickness hellhole), plus head and hand only avatars in the ones that were tried look like absolute rubbish.
Plus a lot of lowest common denominator on headsets. A lot of people use VR-Potatoes.
All that said I've fallen over furniture, hit my desk with my hand with what I do (creative VR work)... and that's even with my playspace mapped out between room and VR.
And if you are not tethered - batteries - imagine being in a vr-raid and your batteries die... no headset, your avatar just stands there.
Interestingly Faecesbook have said their attempt at VR will now have enforced minimum distances between people. That would work for BLM, out on the edge of the arena in their laylines, but it would be hell for the tank and reaper who wanted to be in the same spot.

I wish No Man’s Sky was an mmo or at least had a lobby. I’m the type that likes to play solo but also see other players running around or talking in chat. There is No Man's Sky which has co-op play in VR but that's what not you are asking. I like that, and my latest headset is so clear and nice.

I’m sure someone will come out with an official one eventually. Maybe voice chat wouldn’t be good unless you make a party and then have it in the party.
I definitely want to try VR Skyrim. Imagine VR ESO
VR Skyrim seemed small to me, they got the scale so wrong and it feels tight and small, and that tight scale increases nausea a bit too. Expanding the Skyrim world by 0.2 or so extra would have made it better. I've also noticed a lot of mods don't work in it, which is sad, as there are some good ones.I wish No Man’s Sky was an mmo or at least had a lobby. NMS has a sort of Lobby now, on the Anomaly. But the people playing the game does rise and fall with each expansion. When a new expansion drops there are a lot of people who you can join up with to do shared missions with, dropping off substantially after a week or two, until you are again feeling alone in the universe. But of all the world like games, it has an awesome feel in VR. NMS could benefit from a global chat, something to watch as you build.
FFXIV used to have limited TriDef support, sadly, that has pretty much passed. But the 3D information is in there and can be extracted, as it can with all DX rendered games. Maybe one day someone will do something to help us pull it out fully. If someone is a controller player, they would very likely be able to seamlessly play in VR - especially as PCs and VR is so much more powerful now. I can dream.
An amazing game in VR is Half-Life Alyx - this is done so well, and feels amazing. Some real jumpy moments too when things rush you to try and eat you.
