Never too late. I've tried to learn languages on my own. The issue I run into is I simply get bored, and just stop doing it altogether. I'd like to make the excuse that it was due to it being fairly difficult to find materials to immerse myself in the language (German), but that's not really it. I just give up after a couple months. I should actually get back to it, since I did learn the basics regardless. Pronunciation can be a hurdle in and of itself for a lot of Americans..If I could go back in time, then I'd have put more effort into learning a second language back when I was in high school. I do know a bit of French, though!
My focus back then was on sporty and adventurous stuff like running, climbing and fishing. I suppose not much has changed in that regard...other than ditching the fishing.

I just randomly noticed you're (now) 9 posts away from post #7,777~
Same.
One good method I've found of combating this is trying to find things in the other language I can read.

Yeah, I only noticed it because I noticed your headgear is different and zoomed in on the left side to see if I was seeing things.
How does one pronounce, "Joa, Muss?"Some tidbits:
"Hallo, mein Name ist..." ="Hello, my name is..." However, most won't use this exact translation and go with "Ich bin..." = "I'm..."
Then you might encounter some regional variants for greetings. "Servus" or "Grüß Gott" (= greet god) will tell you that you are in southern Germany, most likely Bavaria.
"Moin" is a clear sign that you are in Northern Germany and is often replied to with another "Moin" or "Moin Moin" or if people are really fancy they go with "Hallo Moin."
"Wie geht es dir?", shortened "Wie geht's?" = "How are you?". Replies are "Mir geht es gut/schlecht" = "I'm fine/not well." A very famous (northern) german replying is "Joa, muss." which roughly translates to "Well, has to work out", meaning you're not to well but able to somehow work it out... seriously, it transports so much emotion that it's hard to explain.
And for some Geography: the famous Aldi-Äquator (Aldi Equator). This is the line that divides Germany, but not quite north/south, but merely the fact whether there is Aldi Nord (North) or Aldi Süd (South). Those two aren't exactly the same with different products. However, the Aldi Equator only works for Germany. The Aldi in UK, for example, is an Aldi Süd.

"I thought that my invincible power would hold the world captive, leaving me in a freedom undisturbed. Thus night and day I worked at the chain with huge fires and cruel hard strokes. When at last the work was done and the links were complete and unbreakable, I found that it held me in its grip." - Rabindranath Tagore
Super late to the party for it, but finally picked up Animal Crossing: New Horizons and honestly I forgot how chill these games are. Been a good way to unwind after work, though I anticipate not picking it up for 2 weeks while I try to cram as much time into SMTV as I can before Endwalker drops. >>;
Kind of surprised at how easy it was to get back into the swing of FFXI. Though I definitely do not have as much patience for some of its malarkey as I used too. The fact that coffer keys can only drop from specific monsters of specific level in each dungeon that has coffers is kind of irritating. I'd for some reason forgot this, and had assumed it was any monsters in the dungeon that were above the lowest level monsters that drop the coffer keys.
You can just buy the coffer keys now, for a paltry gil amount, but that's only if you advance the Rhapsodies of Vana'diel storyline until you get the Rhapsody in Umber key item. I don't want to do that, because I am trying to record/catalogue the game's narrative in some semblance of a reasonable order (also I don't want the option to use Trusts on Maat).
This had made Artifact armor acquisition a tiresome endeavor. The first 15 jobs in the game require coffer keys for 3/5ths of their AF armor. You can pick the lock for the hands armor related coffer if you have Thief leveled, and I do, but even so... That's two coffer keys required per job. 30 coffer keys total.
At least I can combine EXP gains with coffer farming, but dang lol. All in all though, Trusts make coffer key acquisition pretty quick. Shantotto II pretty much ends any coffer level mob upon any skillchain(except Transfixion) going off, and even with just THF sub, can get a coffer key in like 10 minutes this way. But then comes the endeavor of finding the coffer itself. Everytime it's been Eldieme Necropolis thus far, I've had to go through Beaucidine Glacier into the northern half of Batallia Downs... Ugh.
On the brightside, all the globe trotting is letting me see and kill Notorious Monsters I'd never seen or killed before.

That feel when it's been a decade since a Elder Scrolls release. Depressing.
We can thank ESO, and Starfield for that. Todd gave an interview recently, even citing both. It's funny, I still remember playing ES (Oblivion, Skyrim) on a really bad laptop back in the day, in bed, like when I was 17. Literally covered up with a blanket. Put tons of hours into them like that (offline, so they didn't even count on Steam). That laptop also had what I consider the best modlist I've ever used even. I was always too lazy to manually port mods to Special Edition, and similarly, I haven't even updated the game or upgraded to the 'Anniversary Edition' on Steam, because I don't want to break more mods.
Coincidentally, I did the same for FFXIV around 2017, when I was having RL issues. This laptop was so bad, that I would get hit by mechanics trying to do dungeons, at no fault of my own. It was so laggy, but I wanted to play FFXIV. Many of my early classes back in late HW, were leveled this way. That laptop was awful. The funny thing was, at the time, I had just built a PC, but I couldn't use it, because the place I was at didn't have grounded outlets, so it would blow up my desktop (literally) if I tried to turn it on.
