The only thing I absolutely 'need' to do at this point is acquire another 30 tomes before Endwalker so I can grab the jacket from the tomestone event. I'm not even sure if I'll use it, but don't want to miss out on something that is likely going to only be available once.

Other than that, I'm just chipping away at random achievements to pass the time.

Basically, siding with Ulfric is condemning Skyrim to independent rule by someone who has already proven they can't even take on one legion of the Empire without you. They will never stand a chance against the Thalmor.

Also, the decision to execute the player was commanded by an individual. While other leaders were there, they weren't concerned with justice for individuals at the time, since executing Ulfric takes precedence. I don't really have any great love for Tulius, but his second in command kind of makes up for it. Do wish I coulda killed the lady that orders my execution in the tutorial. Woulda been nice!

Siding with the Empire is also a move that keeps it unified. To splinter it by trying to command Skyrim to be independent just means the Aldmeri Dominion get even more power over Tamriel.
Hammerfell was cut loose by the Empire and they drove the Thalmor out, so can Skyrim. Furthermore, the Thalmor would have to cross either Hammerfell or Cyrodiil in order to reach Skyrim. From which they then would have to maintain supply line whilst fighting against a nation that has a homefield advantage. It would be a quagmire for the Thalmor. Also, as an avid individualist I will always stand by a nation that wants self governance from a failed foreign power. Plus Dragonborn wild card.

I don't do PvP in this game.

I was trying to say that I've been having trouble finding something to kill the time with that doesn't involve too much of a commitment. I have my eyes on several RPGs, but those are 100+ hour playthroughs, and I don't think I'd put in enough playtime each day to actually finish one by launch. I don't want to start up any other online games, such as ESO, because that requires too much of a commitment. I could also just get back into FFXIV, but I don't really want to burn myself out doing too much until after EW is launched.. etc. etc..

Just farming tomes for the jacket now. Mostly doing Exdeath and Kefka as a DRK so I can do a little work on the tank achievements at the same time.

Also intermittently searching for a dragoon glamour. Haven't settled on anything yet.

You ever see the news on mmorpgs like New World, or any of the other new ones, and are like "wow! dodged a bullet".

Think I'll just stick to what I know.

Saw that people are basically exploiting for infinite money since it does clientside checks rather than server checks.

    Embarassing, really.

I love how the client-side checks led to exploits that let people become invincible simply by putting their client in windowed mode and wiggling it around... and after failing to patch it on their first attempt, their second attempt changed the the game sent info to your client when it couldn't access it in a way that caused it so if someone buys something off that games market board... and the seller is offline... the game can't send them their money from the sale and its just destroyed.

Man, their economy just can't catch a break.

What's fascinating to me is how this got past that open beta they did. Surely someone should have caught the issues with client-side checks back then?

Yeah...I figured well before it (New World) was released that it would be a forgotten title a couple of years down the road, maybe sooner. People were getting way too overhyped, but I knew better. Never picked it up to give it a go. I'm happy with my decision to stay away. A lot of people were like "But it's Amazon! How could it be bad?" That was exactly my point. It's...Amazon. A company concerned with one thing and one thing only: profit. Sure, they can put out some decent, sometimes legendary movies and shows every now and then but gaming was never their specialty. New World pretty much confirms that they should stay away from making their own original game titles.

While I cannot give a specific date on when personal housing will be implemented, I can say that prices will be completely separate from free company housing, and, naturally, far more affordable.

I've come to believe that any successful MMO is very much a matter of needing to be in the right place in the right time. I guess it's the lightning in the bottle effect.

I also think that any MMO that doesn't already have a lot of nostalgia to lean upon is going to struggle immensely. I doubt it's a coincidence that the most prominent MMO's I can think of at the moment are FFXIV, GW2, ESO and WoW.

FFXIV naturally has a lot of Final Fantasy titles to send a nod towards. Guild Wars 2 is the sequel to Guild Wars, Elder Scrolls Online references the single player games and shows regions we never got to explore within those same titles. As for WoW...its golden years are very much based around the Warcraft games.

There's players who have never touched the games that inspired those MMO's, of course, but I think the number who stick around due to wanting to see references is not an insignificant amount.

I'd love to see more healthy competition where the MMO market is concerned. Yet any upcoming MMO is going to struggle, I fear, unless it truly brings something ground breaking to the table and doesn't skimp on every aspect of the game. So it needs a good story, an immersive game world, an excellent soundtrack, decent character customisation and above all else it needs to not have any major flaws during the launch period.
