I found this interesting, but didn't want to make a whole thread just for this.

In Larryzaur's interview with Yoshi, he asked about a potential engine update and Yoshi responded:

"With any sort of system related updates, we try to do those in the background so that it is more efficient, so that it is more comfortable for the players. With that being said we do want to look into the next 10 years and how do we want to sustain the game, graphics system included. So we do want to play for continuous growth as well. So, there are plans that are starting to be made, and I would like to go into details once endwalker releases. I will perhaps take some time afterwards to discuss what kinds of plans are in my mind looking into the future. So I think for now I would just look forward to Endwalker [...] and once that settled down we can talk about what's next."
