have a little taste of my childhood. I didn't even know about final fantasy, I wasn't allowed to play many video games when I was younger, but... I loved this.

I grew up clinging to 2000s weeb culture while in the 2010s. Was introduced to anime in 2010 when I was 11, same with vocaloid (though that's managed to still maintain a huge amount of popularity). Nightcores, AMVs, those photoshop-made linearts of anime screenshots that were on deviantart and you could download and color them. Coming across this video just kinda... opened the floodgates to nostalgia to me lol.

I didn't get into anything anime or eastern myself until I was already like 22 or 23, around when I started look at, and then playing this game. I mean, I played some 'free to play' korean games beforehand (because I was a kid, and played lots of F2P games), but I didn't really interact with this sort of content. Actually held off playing this game for about 2 or 3 years, because I saw the catgirls and everything else and thought "weeb game lol". Haven't watched much anime, but I have seen a few things to kill time, mostly because shows nowadays are... pretty bad. Some have fairly impressive storylines, the "weeb" stigma kept me away from this content. It's a shame really. Still getting used to the artstyle(s) to this day.

When I was a kid I'd race down to my friend Chris's house everyday after school to watch Dragonball Z, Gundam, and other animes on Toonami's afternoon block when I was like 8~ or so. 1998 was such a simple year. Later on, after a move, my family got cable of our own, and then I made a point of trying to catch every Adult Swim anime show that I could, heh. Particularly Cowboy Bebop, Trigun, and Outlaw Star.

I don't love everything anime, but I'm still quite attached to a lot of animes, and occasionally scope new ones out. In recent years my favorites include: Space Dandy, 91 Days, and Goblinslayer.

I think I'd categorize myself as an old, self-hating weeb. By that I mean I turn my nose up at a lot of more modern, popular animes. Usually due to art style.

Most of the anime I've consumed was produced late 00s-early 10s but I acknowledge and prefer older anime, it went from quality over quantity to the other way around after NGE normalized the seasonal format I feel like. So the artstyles feel flatter, but every once in a while you get higher quality stuff.

Bleach was my thing! As well as, Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood, Neon Genesis Evangelion (both the movies and the series), Deadman Wonderland, Nabari no Ou, among other lesser known animes. Nowadays I think the only kind of “early 2000s style” anime we’ve got is Boku no Hero Academia, and that comes with its own set of issues, lol.

Then we are reminded just how young we are! I've always felt very young when I interacted with mmorpg players. I'm usually the youngest or among the youngest of any particular friend group, clan/guild, whatever I've been in.
