Trickster is the best vocation in Dragon's Dogma 2 and my main pawn looks like my FemRoe.

At long last. And I mean long, the Kickstarter was five years ago. But, y'know, COVID happened, among other things, but hey, it's here now.

Dr Pepper can for scale. Fittingly for 8-Bit Theater, this book is big enough to inflict violence with it.

Duuuuuuuude. I had no idea such a thing existed. 8BT was largely why I mained BLM in FFXI. I have the blueprints of Red Mage's Great Escape Plan Ver 1.0 hanging above my desk.

Was thinking about sick days and how we're conditioned to feel bad about being sick.

If it makes you feel better, I had to call out sick earlier this week, was asked if I could come in today, did so, and the other cake decorators were weary of me since I'm still sick. One of them was trying to keep a 6 foot distance. Girl please, if I'm sick you're going to get it anyway.

If you're sick, take the sick days. They'll be fine without you until you get better. If they're not, RIP them.

So tried to watch Star Trek Discovery season 1 a few years back, bounced off it HARD. Heard season 2 and on was better so I watched a recap of season 1 and started season 2 and I have to say, it feels like Star Trek! It's a blast, I've been binging it all day

So interesting thing happened earlier this week.

My ABM pleaded with me to come back to work despite still being sick, so I did. His reasoning was that one of the flakier girls we've got (she's 6 months pregnant and was flaky before, she's become flakier now due to it), and they've been understaffed while I was out.

Sure, bet. I'll pass my flu onto you guys. About halfway through my shift my BM calls me. Turns out my mom fell while I was at work and she had called him to get ahold of me. Me living 5 minutes away from work I scrambled home, half-panicking that she fell and broke her hip.

No, instead she had fallen and at first we thought she completely dislocated her knee, judging by the lack of pain she was having. She had just gotten out of the shower when she heard the phone ring, and thought it was me. So she made a mad dash to the phone in her bedroom right out of the bathroom.

Unfortunately years ago she had nearly all of the flooring in the house replaced, from cushioned carpet to vinyl flooring that was directly on top of concrete.

We get an ambulance over, I got her the necessary things (cell phone, ID, insurance cards) they loaded her up and I locked up the house before returning to work, thinking she'd be fine. Not...really fine. About an hour later she calls me and tells me she had broken her kneecap right down the middle. She didn't exactly tell me how. It wasn't until after she got out of surgery she told me that she had completely split her kneecap in half, meaning one half was pushed into her lower thigh, the other half was in her upper shin. She had also fractured her shoulder while bracing her fall.

Since getting out of the hospital (she refused to stay the night, I don't blame her since that hospital does suck), she's been in a leg immobilizer and while she's allowed to put weight on it, she's been slowly waddling around the house via wall/furniture surfing. I feel tremendously bad that, had I not decided to let myself get talked back into going to work earlier than expected, she'd not be waddling around with a broken knee.

Upside is that I now have 6 weeks off for FMLA reasons to help care for her. It goes right through Mother's Day and graduation season for my work, so I get to miss out on those for work.

Oh wow! That really sucks and I'm sorry your Mom was so badly hurt. May she have a quick ((and uneventful)) recovery.
