More of a completion thing. EVERYBODY must be maxed out. Again, I won't worry about the level until the end of disc 3, since the glorious evil land of Grand Dragons will await me...as will the god-slaying power that is Quina's Level 5 Death (Blue Mages win again).

Amarant's a weird case of a jack-of-all-stats. He's decent at everything but not really great at any one thing. He's kinda the red mage of the game. Unfortunately he comes in so late that it's hard to catch him up without a lot of grinding. He does come in handy in one dungeon that blocks magic, though, since his skills don't count as magic.
It's a shame too, I really feel like they could have made him very good. Power Throw and Power Up (makes Chakra restore 40%) should have been gained much earlier, which would have made both his heals and Throw really good when it was needed most. Power Throw would need its cost heavily reduced since it's far too much (and you're already paying the price from throwing things). Add in an ability so he can gain MP back based on damage dealt, make Chakra ignore Zombie status (so it's good for healing allies who get that on them), give him a Provoke, and give him an ability that makes him take MP damage instead of HP damage (double digits instead of 4 digits though so it's not an instant loss of all MP). There, you've buffed his damage, his healing, and his tanking earlier, making him a solid choice for any party.Amarant's a weird case of a jack-of-all-stats. If anyone starts playing Vagrant Story...you let me know. I can explain all the finer details of that game. I've played it so much that I can cheese the hell out of it.
When you deal with human beings, never count on logic or consistency.
Fluid like water. Smooth like silk. Pepperoni like pizza.
Haven't played that in a few years. The final boss is still the ultimate test of skill, as you do so little damage unless you let your risk build up.

I killed him simply with reflect magic/physical. Then I discovered Phantom Pain. At that point I carried 6 crossbows with full Phantom Points and would use that attack once for each bow. Easy peasy. Phantom Pain does 1:1 raw damage regardless of defenses for every Phantom Point the weapon has. The drawback is it drains all the phantom points of the weapon and will be naturally weaker unless you build it back up using the weapon regularly. Since it's the final boss...who cares?

EDIT: FF9...Hippaul Racing. Need to get the Athlete Queen for this trophy. UGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHH I hate most of FF9's minigames...the only one I really love is Chobobo Hot and Cold, the rest can kick rocks.

I always found Amarant to be extremely useful. Only falls behind if you're stopping to grind out, which you don't really need to in 9. But I'm no 9 know it all though. Throw deals full damage from the back row. Was it quadruple or double on flying foes? *shrug* No delay on it either compared to things like Jump.
The ATB in 9 drives me insane. It's much slower than all prior entries, even with haste it's barely tolerable. Freezes during animations and crap. It's one of the reasons I've only replayed 9 a few times.

"I thought that my invincible power would hold the world captive, leaving me in a freedom undisturbed. Thus night and day I worked at the chain with huge fires and cruel hard strokes. When at last the work was done and the links were complete and unbreakable, I found that it held me in its grip." - Rabindranath Tagore
If they doubled the speed of the battles, it'd feel much more in line with other FF games. But sadly it's slow as hell, which makes things like Regen absolutely broken. By the time an animation is done, you've gotten 3-4 ticks of HP in, pretty much invalidating the damage you've taken. Auto-Regen breaks the game's difficulty for you practically.I always found Amarant to be extremely useful. Only falls behind if you're stopping to grind out, which you don't really need to in 9.
