The thing that bothers me the most about political shenanigans online is that it's pretty much exclusively US-centric.
It'd maybe bother me a bit less if it wasn't just the one pov and lens of looking at things through ( strangely enough even from a lot of non-Americans ).
Like when it comes to gaming websites the last straw for me was when DoA6 was coming out and freaking reviews became about the last president and it became some '' left vs right '' culture war whether you liked the game or not...

Imo it should just be shutdown immediately and be isolated to where it belongs in sub-sections or something.
Gaming is a global market...
Just create a trashfire politics section and then let it burn itself to the ground, don't even moderate it just let people go nuts but keep them away from everywhere else.

The US has a lot of influence on both world politics and makes up a large portion of 'gamers'. It makes sense that there is bleed through. However, the site I was referring was host to world politics, especially British or EU topics, as there were a lot of users from that region. Now I do agree that real world politics should be - mostly - isolated to their own sections (of a general forum, not like here being specifically about FFXIV), and/or should only be addressed if it's relevant to the topic or something appearing in the game. The problem is politics has the tendency to get tempers raging on whatever side (or not) one may be, and quickly devolve into insult wars and personal attacks. It requires heavy moderation for actual discourse to happen, and even then it's touchy, as one side or the other will claim moderation is biased. It's usually easier to not allow it entirely.

the german forums have a lovely person, interacting with people, assuring people that suggestions get sent to the dev team and such.
it‘s really weird the english one doesn‘t get as much attention as the japanese and german ones do.
and before people say „but the english one is more toxic“, a forsaken forum get‘s toxic without moderations after some time, if you leave it by itself.
i mean there are people that are blatantly trolling but they seem to get around with that stuff without a problem, which invites others to do the same.

English forums definitely need somebody. Even just placing a warning in certain threads would go a long way, or just more interactions like for popular requests.

I'm inclined to believe that it's exactly what is supposed to be happening but isn't for whatever reason.

We occasionally see our community representatives make a post introducing themselves but then beyond that...we rarely if ever see them show up again.

Maybe their hands are tied, though. It's hard to say for sure, I guess.

Battlefield 2042 got delayed to like the same release date as Endwalker. Think that'll be a cancelled preorder from me, I won't be able to play that one. Probably will have to get it on sale months later now. Like yeah, nah. I think I'm booked in November.

I am getting close to the end of the '' base story '' of Shadowbringers in NG+.
I've neglected the story in the past so it's all essentially fresh and new to me, it has been way better than I expected.

There's gonna be a void when I am finished tho until Endwalker xD.
But at least the story will be pretty fresh in my mind when I start the Endwalker story.

I was surprised that they don't take your money right away you gotta wait apparently <_<.

I get that, it's moreso about the extent to which it bleeds into it which I do think is SEVERELY overrepresented to the point all else feels non-existent.
To the point of absurdity where Polish games get judged based on the current political climate and US history ( which uh, some people need a Polish history lesson lol ).


Obviously what the US does has the capacity of having a bigger effect both good and bad in the world, but it's generally not at all what people actually talk about usually it's very niche issues even in the US too and irrelevant in terms of world politics.
I think it's a view that people in the US moreso have of themselves rather than people have of the US ( outside of niche issues ).

Picked up some fantasias while they're still on sale. Haven't actually decided what to do with them, so they're going into the saddlebag for now, but we'll see.

I switched to like every race except Lalafell and Hrothgar this sale lol, and then I went full circle back again to Highlander.
I don't even want to look at or think about how much money I spent this sale xD...

Edit: I did buy the Eastern Lady Errant set tho which is really cool, my best purchase this sale.

I rarely preorder games, but not because I have something against the preorder specifically, or am trying to 'boycott' them. It's just that there aren't many that interest me. I will pre order games I think I will like and specifically want to play on release, as otherwise I'd be buying it on launch anyway. There is no reason for me to not get any bonus items, and be able to preload the game, in that case. The only time I've been 'burned' on a preorder was probably Cyberpunk, but even then I got a good amount of playtime out of it, it just wasn't the RPG I was expecting (not an RPG at all).

A game like this it's a bit different. As this is an ongoing MMO, it's kind of a necessity to buy the next expansion(s) regardless of whether they are good or not - I mean if you want to actually play it seriously. Granted, you could wait for a sale, but you'd still be inevitably buying it sooner or later anyway. I typically go overboard and get all the digital collector's editions, plus now I typically preorder. I think I missed the Stormblood preorder, but I'm pretty sure that came out during a period where I didn't have any access to internet altogether (other than phone) and was moving from place to place. Also, you can have them charge the preorder instead of waiting.

I've used a lot of fantasias, but I can proudly say I have never even thought to switch to a lalafell. I've had that feeling.. I will obsess over how much I spent, and probably gave myself anxiety attacks over my impulse buying problem. I have routinely wasted money on fantasias, hundreds of dollars worth at least. I'll obsess over some small detail that will make it a 'no go' for me, and require another fantasia. Now, I've just been trying to stop buying them altogether this year. Haven't bought one since June or so when I switched back to au ra (after saying prior I was gonna stop using them). Those are an actual waste of money. Now outfits.. I can get behind that. Those consist of actual items you can use, and even find new uses for as new items come out.

God, schmood. I’ve got entire weeks planned for stuff, and EW is taking up the majority of my time even before it’s come out.

Yeah, pretty much the same. I assume EW will take up the majority of my playtime for about a month after it's out. Thing is, I'm also typically the type to only play one game at a time (same with watching things). I don't really like to divert my attention to multiple things, especially story based games or RPGs. Makes it less impactful. I'll probably get through the EW main story pretty quick though, relatively.
