Chuchu is quickly becoming my favorite. Both punches are epic but I adore Chuchu laid out old spacian girl. The School of the undefeated of the East would be proud.




But Witch from Mercury is good so far. The little nods to past gundam's is awesome.

Your thoughts on Witch from Mercury so far? Personally it feels like the best written Gundam series in a long time, at least from the first 4 episodes.

It's been pretty good so far. Kinda wondering how Aerial will get upgraded when funnels are usually a late-series addition, though.

Also, the sheer storm it's been kicking up on Twitter is hilarious.

If I were to make a guess, since everything so far seems to be heavily linked to Shakespeare's The Tempest (Prospera = Prospero, Aerial = Ariel, cast out with child and seeking revenge, etc etc), I won't be heavily surprised if there isn't actually an upgrade.

And at the least, there's already a preorder for a flight unit to add on to the Aerial. Whether that really counts as an upgrade or just an add-on is debatable.

What storm has it been kicking up on twitter? I don't exist on twitter so anything that happens feels like some distant place, but I'm curious about what new thing they're upset about regardless.

So far I think the show is OK. The school setting and Utena vibes are a bit strange for Gundam but I still find myself looking forward to each episode. The only real problem I had so far is Chuchu's hairstyle in general and also how she fits it in her helmet but apparently that was solved in official art:

The first episode's ending kicked off the "anti-woke" crowd. I've been having a good laugh at them, anyway.

Especially the ones who seem to think that suddenly this makes Gundam political. Which tells me that they've probably never actually paid attention to a non-Build Gundam series before. Even G Gundam had anti-war tones as part of its premise, and it's basically giant robot Street Fighter.

Anti-woke crowd upset that there's a female lead and how the first episode basically ended with her getting engaged to the other female lead (meaning they're upset because LGBT exists).

Experience tells me that the people who complain that certain art forms and media are "suddenly political" are the kind that didn't have the brains to figure out what the story was telling them and then got mad when it stopped being subtle. One thing is disliking political discourse and not engaging in it, another thing is being blind. At that point I just treat it as dumbspeak for "I'm incapable of reading between the lines/understand metaphors" and move on.

Like the people who insist Akira and Ghost in the Shell aren't political whatsoever.

It's just easier for these people to dismiss what they don't like as "political". It's great because they can fit whatever they want under it without telling exactly what they mean.
