Honestly, I think the lack of an actual chat system during both casual and ranked play really hurts the game mode. I do a lot of PvP in this game, as evidenced here:



Now, that's Frontlines - often an even more chaotic mess than CC at times. Though if things aren't going well I can give directions, take charge, offer tips. I'd like to think it's why I have a slightly higher win than loss rate.

I loathe the quick chat function. It feels so impersonal and doesn't allow me to give direct, detailed instructions that are specific to the needs of the match.

I also think we need an additional PvP roulette specifically for Rival Wings to encourage more participation there as well.

That is so bloody stupid. Next time it happens, send in a report on the person. Getting banned over ragequitting or at least getting a warning over it would likely be enough to get them to stop.

I was joking about that over discord yesterday, when someone was sitting in spawn on my team.

My experience hasn't been too bad, though I've only been doing roughly 2 matches a day. I'm taking my time with this series.

Sometimes it can be alright, and it probably largely is fine, but the bad experiences stay with you.

I think a loss should be half a star and a win should be a whole star. To mitigate the pain of trying to climb in ranked, doing everything right but losing because you get persistently unlucky with team compositions.

Ranked climb sounds awful.

I stop for the week once my tomes are capped.

Probably a good idea to not fully burn out, depending on how many roulettes you do I mean.

I have always thought this. I don't think the solution to curbing "toxicity" should be the complete removal of the chat function. It is needed in PvP, and can really help turn a match if you can get your team coordinated. It's sad. I know there have been times I have wanted to use it, like just yesterday when I saw the DRG and DNC combined ult incoming. I was literally the only one left when I ran out of range.

Exactly right. I haven't seen the spamming as often this season as last though, just more of the quiet griefing. I do see "Good Match!" fairly early on when they think we will lose (doesn't mean we will).

I haven't played SMITE in so many years. I think when I saw it last time it had some Nickelodeon cartoon promo, and I think maybe something about Rambo (?) recently. I have no clue what is going on there, some Fortnite style promos I guess. Anyway, I do remember people going "You Rock!", "Cancel That!" often.

SMITE has changed a lot over the years. They combined Siege with Clash, creating the Slash game mode (2 lanes, 5v5, huge jungle and sieges to help you push towers). A bunch of items have been removed or completely reworked, and several gods have been reworked too. Hades and Zhong Kui are mages instead of guardians now.

I'm going to be honest, I'm awful with the names of things. I don't know what specifically these modes were previously. I must have not played those modes much. I think I played whatever the classic moba mode was called mostly. I barely remember even my skill names in FFXIV even!

If you do replay, I'd suggest playing Arena to get used to the various gods and items since it's just basically an open area with nothing but team fighting (that few take seriously). Also look up a few builds so you can get the hang of what the popular items are. The mode is my go to usually if I want casual matches that last 20 minutes at the longest and 10 minutes at the shortest due to surrenders. It helps with learning new gods too (outside of lanes). Some gods just do better in laned combat, like Anhur.

I‘d suggest to check on the DMG dealt people do at the end. I had some people with literally 0 DMG done in ranked and it screams to me like people wintrading. Other times there are people much higher in rank but still dealing marginal dmg compared to others. Either those are wintraders too or ranked is a real mess The report system is so frustrating too! Reporting needs to be much more accessible.

Oh, I do. I always try to score very high! highest dmg as whm and healing here, still lose! Everyone else's stats seem normal.

Perhaps in ranked there is win trading going on, but in casual I suspect it's more genuine rage.

I might. I typically favored Gods like Neith or Bastet, and just like any other game I had my mains that I mostly only played. If I do, I'll have to check out the new selection and see if there is anything else I'd like!
