I feel the same way, but I have hope. I have so much hope for this one. The 2nd age has a lot of starting points for stuff down the line(third age stories that we have mostly seen)

If it does well enough I'd love to see a series around Melkor or the War of Wrath from the first age.

Not gonna lie I am totally ignorant on the time period the show will take place in, I haven't read the books and I am not really into the lore and all that of LOTR.
I just watched the movies xD.

I find it very hard to get into shows nowadays tho, I watched the first one or two seasons of the Witcher I honestly can't remember if it was one or two.
Then I just kinda stopped.
It's not that I didn't like it I thought it was okay and enjoyable enough but I dunno, just sitting down and actually watching something is rare for me now.

Like I have no clue who Melkor is except that he was the big bad and Saurons boss lol.
I did watch the original trilogy not too long ago tho and did enjoy it, it has aged incredibly well.
The extended cuts has some really great extra scenes too.

I had new appreciation for Eowyn too when I re-watched it because I thought she was a female character that a lot of shows try to do nowadays but constantly fail at but done really well.
She never felt insulting and hamfisted she came across a lot more like a real person with her own unique struggles.
Altho I always felt the Witch King scene was pretty dumb in the third movie, but as far as I understand there was more context to it than it seems in the movie ( Merry's sword was special and he got a strike in first? ).
As a one-liner it's alright but when I first watched it I thought it was meant literally, that he couldn't be killed by someone depending on their gender lol.

I'm not surprised. Most of Tolkien's popular work is in the 3rd age. I'm just hoping that people get interested in the earlier ones through this series.

Yeah I actually do think that the lore is interesting so I am not sure why I didn't get into it more.
I might see if I can grab the audiobooks since I like to listen to stuff in the background, I am currently listening to Dune.

The new Netflix Resident Evil show ( there's no gore or anything, it's not what you'd expect at all from RE... )..
I am actually legit convinced at this point that this might be some elaborate scheme of the film/ tv show industry to try and screw over the gaming industry because they're scared of the competition rofl.
How can they keep doing this?
They keep being handed stuff on a silver platter and they keep screwing it up xD.

It's not just this scene the whole show is awful.
Even so called '' good '' movies based on video games are awful or just barely passable and they still don't really feel like the games.
RE definitely has a ton of goofy stuff, but there's still games you could make a legit great movie out of.

I'd just seriously love to get a sneak peek into the actual process behind how this happens...
Like hear the conversations and what goes on behind the scenes.

In some cases showrunners want to make a certain type of show, or in more extreme cases just want to tackle certain world issue or whatever, but since they lack any renown they end using an IP they don't care about and results are bad.

But seriously, this does raise my worries of the series a bit. I've already accepted that Kurama might be on the Faye Valentine block and that one fight scene might be totally changed or removed all together, but I hope they don't change too much of Yu Yu's darker humor.

I got rid of Netflix a while back and I don't regret it. There's some good stuff here and there but even a lot of the good stuff seems to get one good season and then decline in quality after it has successfully hooked people. Add in the frequent heavy handed, awkward tokenism and 'messaging' and it rapidly killed my interest.

This. We'll see if they'll scale it back now that they're in some trouble, but for as long as the above remains true, any "offers" to re-sub will go straight to the trash bin. The sole redeeming feature of Prime is you can pick and choose what to rent and it has some practical benefits separate to its streaming service, but I can't say I'd watch any of their own productions...
