"I thought that my invincible power would hold the world captive, leaving me in a freedom undisturbed. Thus night and day I worked at the chain with huge fires and cruel hard strokes. When at last the work was done and the links were complete and unbreakable, I found that it held me in its grip." - Rabindranath Tagore
Truer words have never been spoken. Microtransactions are simply evolving. Gaming continues to grow as a major entertainment power. Whether it be your All the bravest,Diablo Immortal, or the numerous waifu gacha games to your Madden, NBA 2k, or Fifa, companies are going to find a way to milk the customers for as much as possible. As much as people yell from the hilltop, down vote on Metacritic, or boycott all together, there will be just as many who will not say a thing and just pay.
If you play FGO, you should know with the Castoria craze about to hit in full. All you see is people brag about how broken she is. And that's all you need for some to waste money on something that they think that they need.
Merlin cutely in the corner, with Oberon laughing his face off.
But really, the issue with microtransactions are irresponsible people and the gambling-like effect that they have. Remember, there's a reason why they're banned in some countries.
Dragon's Dogma 2 and Final Fantasy VIIR - Part 2 announced on the same day? Very nice.

The Dragon's Dogma 2 release comes more than a few years too late, but I suppose it's better late than never. They probably should have capitalized on it not long after the releasing the first, but it is what it is. I'm glad it is happening regardless.

It is never too late for a RPG with dragons. :3
Cheers
I think it's the perfect time for it coming. Capcom now has a working engine with insane potential. Insane enough to where Monster Hunter Rise, Devil May Cry 5, the entire Resident Evil series since 7, and Street Fighter 6 are all sharing it with Dragon's Dogma 2.
Dragon's Dogma is the one that appeals to me.
What do you mean, three?! Surely you don't think they're actually gonna HAVE three versions? The future is two versions plus two Season Passes, plus Dexit.
In all seriousness, Scarlet and Violet both + 2 Season Passes is gonna run the average gamer nearly 200 dollars! Sheesh, if Nintendo hasn't gotten more stereotypically corporate lately.

Sheesh, if Nintendo hasn't gotten more stereotypically corporate lately. In all seriousness though I wouldn't complain with a 3rd title in that generation, but they've seen how profitable DLC has been so that is probably a pipe dream now. The days of complete games on release are long dead. Honestly, I just wish they'd give us a proper endgame for us long time collectors/players to have something challenging to do. Haven't had anything like that since Black/White with the Whitetree Hollow and Black Tower. The Battle Tower just doesn't quite scratch that itch.
Plus the Remaster for Crisis Core! But I'm not ready to have my emotions destroyed again...
