Elin were one of the reasons I never got into Tera. They just creeped me out but were treated as the holy grail of character creation.
I strongly dislike the "underage uwu anime girl" look and the countless ecchi poses in addition to Tera gear being quite skimpy in general just felt so wrong. It was definitely not aimed to be a "cute childlike" race, they were designed to look sexy from head to toe while pretending to be cute and innocent.
Freedom of expression is one thing but the way they blatantly creep baited with them was next level.

And then there was the community up in arms over Elin getting censored. Part of them critized the lazy way it was done (which was a valid point because it was really uncreative) but a lot of them explicitely stated that they wanted their little loli to only wear tiny panties and that the shorts make them so boring.

I have a pretty hard stance on censorship, there's a lot of games and studios/ publishers that I just blatantly refuse to support for even slight censorship I have pretty much a zero tolerance for it.
But yeah stuff like the Elin is totally different, and I think it's the same too if you have a game full of extreme violence and you originally had a minor get harmed and it got censored.

When it comes to adults I just have zero tolerance for moralization and censorship, especially when it comes to something harmless as sex and sexuality people sitting around policing that on behalf of everyone else is just gross to me and a complete buzzkill.
But leave minors out of it...
That's adult stuff, and I do believe in the sanctity of childhood for a lack of a better term.
Not sure if that's a good term for it or not and if it gets the point across.

But yeah one of the other issues with censorship too is often how poorly it's done and how obvious it is, it always just looks inferior and like it has clearly been tampered with.
In the case of something like Elin tho I have more of an understanding for it even tho I think they could've done a better job with it.
It's definitely really frustrating tho how such a rather gross niche can derail a game so much.
Just because I like the overall art design of Tera doesn't mean I am okay with them, and I think most people find them really unsettling and gross but it kinda just ends up being all about them and where the discussion and attention is drawn to.

I don't appreciate the "jiggly wiggly butts and boobs stuffed in my face from all directions" but I don't think it should be censored, either. It's adult stuff and as long as it doesn't involve minors, I can ignore it. Definitely far from being my cup of tea but as long as both the fictional character and the person consuming the medium are not minors, there is nothing wrong and it doesn't deserve censorship. I know a lot of people say that as long as it's fictional it's all good but I think there are some things that shouldn't be openly endorsed even in fiction.
But as you said: leave children out of it. And Elin were definitely designed to look like innocent children while at the same time running around mostly naked and doing butt-in-camera ecchi poses. I understand the criticism of the censoring done poorly because they could've been so much more creative than just slapping a shorty shorts on everything.
But this "Nooo my lil loli is supposed to constantly flash her undies ;_;" really irked me.
Tera had some pretty stunning visuals, the oversexualization of a childlike race was just a huge nope for me.
Lalafell are handled very well in that regard, they definitely have this childlike look without being a creep bait.

Do you guys have any hacks now that it's getting warmer to cool rooms?
My office is a nightmare during warm weather/ summer <_<, even with a fan on full power pointed at me lol.

Tucking wet towels into closed windows works well. Heat mostly gets in through open windows/ direct sunlight and the wet towels usually keep my attic cool even during really hot days. Not sure if it's an option for an office though.

When I first saw Tera, I was excited by the possibility of playing a Castanic. I think the men looked incredible - and then I saw Elin and wanted nothing to do with the game. That sort of thing is just creepy and weird to me.

I think the character I mained was an Elin, when I tried Tera. Not that I played it long enough to really "main anything". It was race/gender locked, if I recall. It's been so long. I don't think I can even remember what the class was.

Cooling rooms can be difficult without some sorta AC. I'd suggest cooling yourself instead. Cold wet cloth around the back of your neck or an ice pack.

I wouldn't recommend to do the same but basically my house is always completly open, windows/doors/everything days and night.

Pro : it's a lot cooler than most appartment

Con : Got 1 intrusion from a drunk neightbor at 4 am and another from a burglar that thought there was no one inside over the course of the last 3 years !

But more seriously, invest in a portable AC, it will do the work.

Just reported somebody for the first time in any game over "abusive language". This kid in Lost Ark, couldn't not blame me for a wipe. I even apologized in the chat, that I missed a mechanic, I told them exactly why.. a literal bumblebee was in my room. It had just started crawling all over me during a mechanic... and I'm allergic. This kid started berating me in chat non-stop for like 5 minutes straight during the next pull. I don't think I've ever even heard or read such childish insults over the internet. I actually don't think I've ever even heard any of what was being said since I was in middle school, for that matter. It was idiotic.

At this point, I think I've kind of lost my tolerance for this sort of nonsense.

It's very rare I ever report someone, but if people start arguing or being just generally shitty in party chat in FFXIV I just basically say '' if there's gonna be drama I'll just leave now '' and usually it shuts people up.
And if they continue I just leave.

I play games for fun not to listen to people with ego problems have an internet dick-measuring contest lol.
If I wanted to do that I'd go to Reddit.
